I've just ordered a TG-50 and I'm in a panic!
Long version>
They have my order for 5 minutes already. Why isnt it here yet?
I want it now, not tomorrow!
I want to play with it!
I'm going to miss my trusty IIIc.
I'm going to install a million apps on it when it eventually gets here.
I'm going to Germany to get a memory stick on saturday.
I want a USB bluetooth blob dongle thing to sync it at work too.
I like Sony. Nearly everything in my house is made by them, tv's, vcr's, dvd's etc
Why isnt it here yet?
Where is it?
Somebody might have stolen it during its ride here.
It might have gotten lost in the post.
It's been 8 minutes already!
TG-50 please. NOW! NOW! NOW!
Short version>
I'm 30 years old, I've just spent 470 euros on a better toy to replace a toy that does its job perfectly. I'm babbling like an idiot. I need help.
I am a soon to be Clie owner.
ps. sorry for wasting your time. I've just got ants in my pants about this TG-50 thing.

Honey, I've got a decade plus on ya, and did everything but hold my breath and turn blue til I actually got my hands on the TG50. That was on 3/17, and I continue to fall more in love with this little e-brain with each passing day. Like you, I had a perfectly adequate PDA (Treo90), but heck, I wanted the hi-res plus the music, and the keyboard was a must. BTW, a gentle warning-- the keyboard may feel a bit stiff and awkward to you initially. But I promise you, the keys loosen up with continued use, and it truly is a joy to use, carry, look at, play with, etc. Actually, it's a productivity boon as well-- so much fun to use, that you'll be more diligent about notes to stay on top of work, etc.
Now, get some sleep, cause you'll be up all night becoming acquainted with your new e-boddy! ;) Oh, one way to kill time-- start checking for OS5 and hi-res apps. If you use Agendus or DateBk, you'll wanna check out hi-res icons as well. The "M3" set is exquisite!

yes, I felt the eact same way when I per-ordered my NR70v last year, I printed out the specs sheet and carried it in my pocket for a month till it got here....I didn't have a car at the time, and I was burning some cds after chool, when I checked the delivery status...it was 3 days early!!! I ran home (it was only like a mile) and that thing was sooooooo beautiful, I haven't felt that way...I've never felt that way..it's a wonderful feeling

I'd like to thank everyone for their kind reactions. You took the time to read my ramblings and answer them without ripping on me. I love you all. Well, I've calmed down now and I'm back to my cool, laidback with a bad haircut, charming, sexy but with panache self. I've just taken some medication (no connection to my clie panic attack - painkillers for a torn muscle in my back) and I'm currently weighing up my situation.
Post panic update>
1. 24 hours from now I will have a clie TG-50. If I don't there will be "trouble" or at the very least - a tantrum.
2. I've been downloading manuals and spec sheets all afternoon (Nevardeath :) ). Looking at pics on Japanese web sites and going "ooohhhhhhhh pretty!".
3. Been updating and backing up my agendus/3nity and other assorted apps on my soon-to-going-to-the-blond-monster IIIc.
4. Agreed a trip to Germany on saturday with said blond monster.
5. Looked for highres icons on a number of online retailers. Made no purchases yet. M3 looks indeed exquisite, thanks Treorenegade.
6. Looked for highres games. Again, no purchases made.
7. Posting here.
Tomorrow after work I will check to see if the nice man/lady from the post office has delivered the magic ticket which will let my wife (aka: blond monster) go and pick up a package at the depot. Then with any luck the blond monster will go and cash in said magic ticket for a package that will hopefully contain one brand spanking new, squeaky clean TG-50. After night school I will then return home and 5 minutes later be playing with my Clie giggling like an idiot.
I will of course (mod's and admin's permitting) keep you informed of any developments.
You are all very nice.
And I'd like to hang here if thats ok with you people.
I extend my hand in friendship.
your new friend,
Jas

Well it does take 4 hours to charge, and if you want optimal battery life you should leave it alone for that time.....not that any of us did!!! :P :D
Anyways, enjoy your new TG. I LOVE MINE!!!! I still love mine everyday and hug it every morning!! :P
Like, Treorenegade, I myself upgraded from a perfectly wonderful Treo 90, you should've seen the look on my mother's face when I told her I wanted to upgrade :D.
The only problem I have with my TG50 is that I still find myself drooling over the extra features of the NX and the NZ...oh well...
Alex.

Like you, I "replaced" a perfectly good PDA (Clie N760C) - but I'm very happy now !!
HOWEVER - one caution: get a screen protector on it before you start using it !! Sony's is the PEGA-SP50 (if I remember right) - slightly smaller than others out there, but fit for the TG50. It'll save you a lot of anguish later . . .
Have fun !!

Had the Treo 90 and loved it so
Then it happened: I spotted the T-G-5-oh!!
"Now, why do you want it?" , I asked myself,
"It's not like you've got Oprah's excess wealth!"
"The Treo is sleek, small, and quite sturdy."
"Yeah but oh, Lawwwwd, is that Clie purdy!!"
"You should be satisfied; the Treo's fine"
"But the Sony's hi-res shows lots of my lines!"
"Yeah but the Treo's stocked with apps galore;
Switching boats midsteam is like beggin' for gore!"
"No pain, no gain!", I said to me
As I jumped in the car for Circuit City.
"May I help you?", he asked, as I gawked all about.
"Yes sir, please tell me: where can the new Sony be found????"
"I think it's down here, hidden away from view."
"Well cough it up, Dude, before I hurt you!"
Silver and slim and trim and sublime
Lightweight to boot; it's real love this time.
The keyboard's no Treo, but the screen is divine!
Feels so good in my hands that I start to unwind.
So to new buddy Jas, it's not that we're kind;
We're all simply possessed, obsessed by this find.
In other words, friend, you have entered the grind
Where all here present concede: we have lost our last mind!!!

Well,
My experience with a clie started way back in 2 years ago when the S-300 was released. Well that time I just graduated from secondary school and I was hunting for a PDA-My very first PDA. The S-300 have expansion (Which was rare then) and it has a great backlight, jogdial and basic multimedia feature. It's great. Then I move on to PPC and it's a great experience when I switched back to clie once again. The TG-50 just stole my heart and my cash away. (Which I willingly surrender them.) Once I look at it, I know that's the one. Speed, multimedia, bluetooth, keyboard, color, hi-res screen. All what I need in a small size and affordable price. I just desperately sold off my ipaq which is a memory shark. Besides that my Ipaq is also bad as I always have to soft reset my ipaq whenever I want to turn bluetooth on due to insufficient driver memory. So I just quickly sold off my Ipaq and as my paycheque have yet to be cleared by my bank, I just borrowed some cash from my friend and rush down to get my TG-50 during my dinner break. After reaching home from work, I charge it up and quickly get back all my favourite software and throw them right into my TG-50....Spend a few hours doing that. But I'm just so happy that it works for me after all the hard work... But it's all worth it. This is part of my affair with my TG-50. I'm obsessed with it....=)
Cheers,
Alan

In my office one sunny day,
Surfin' the web .. feelin' okay,
Readin' reviews, nite and day,
of hardware stuff and PDA's.
At auction sites like that dang eBay,
everything's so dull, i ain't gonna stay,
Went to sony's website,
and there i played ...
Clicked here, clicked there, clicked everywhere,
some blue light flashing, amber keyboard eh ?
Read the model number .. TG-50 heh !
alright baby, gonna check it Yeah !
Hop on the train, head to the city,
get to sony wings at KLCC
Me and my pal danny (with his Toshiba e740),
we're nerd like hell, drooling furiously
Once we reached the stop,
Our veins start to pop,
As we ran up to the shop !
Gleaming silver, gleaming grey,
I ain't too sure, my mind's all blehhh ..
I touched that honey,
Yeah .. it feels okay
Check out that Chewing Gum !
Mmm .. its the MS 128 !
"Here's my card darlin',"
I said to the checkout girl
"Can i turn it on and start playin' ?"
"Nuh-uh sir, you must be kiddin' !"
"Charge it four hours, and then you'll be swingin' "
Off i go with my piece of steel,
Hop on the train and i start to feel,
Nerd waves pulsin' over my body
Like i'm a chicken on a grill ..
Yes ! i'm home ! i shout with glee,
Yes ! mommy, i got a clie !
No ! its cheapo, not too expensive
Just payin' RM 150 (per month, but she didn't see)
Hook it up babee, hook the cradle,
Pop that honey open and we'll power twiddle,
Alas, with my hands so itchy,
Took a cold shower, even though its 10 degrees,
Opps .. wrong place, i'm blurbing again,
In Malaysia, ain't ever reached that cold to begin !
But all in all, i installed some pretty fun crap,
which meant retribution and i had to hard reset
now my profile is in shambles and my address is dead,
my life is so out of sync, and i can't play bejewelled.
here lies the end of my tale of woe,
come on baby its 5.30, lets go ..

Words can't explain......
It's not joy.
I feel a strange calm.
I think this might be the silence before the storm.
My clie.
Has arrived.
I was in the shower sulking because the magic ticket wasnt in my mail box. No package for the blond monster to get for me. Untill... a doorbell, my dog barking like a million burgulars were trying to break in, a man with a box. No ticket, just a box.
I'm going to schoool now....
My clie is resting.
I will return later.
Thank you my new friends, for being here for me to share this with you.
I will return.

I've nearly got my new clie up and running the way I like it.
I've been playing with it so much the last 3 days that a lot of its features now seem normal, the back button is quite possibly the best invention ever and has already shown itself to be unmissable in the future. My eyes are now used to the perfect, crisp, clean screen, and the new onscreen graffiti is now second nature (although I still keep trying to pull the stylus out of the headphone jack!).
A trip to Germany yesterday produced a 128Mb memory stick (95 euros = bargain). 2 episodes of "greg the bunny" still leaves enough space for a few mp3's and assorted other fun junk.
Docs2go seems like its become a 1000 times better, but of course its just the high res, crystal clear screen that gives that impression.
My games also look better than most GBA games (I've only seen GBA in the shops and I've only played with it once, no flames please, it’s just my opinion).
MS Import/Export I’d never even heard of before but I think it’s an excellent idea. My IDE multi card reader doesn’t seem to like memory sticks for some reason (going to try new drivers later) but this isn’t going to be a problem. In fact, if I had any brains I’d stick with MS Export. The transfer speed seems fine and I don’t have to remove the memory stick from its comfy slot in the clie every time.
Agendus however, is a bit of a let down. The m3 icons are indeed amazing, and add a whole new look to it, but somehow it still looks like agendus on my IIIc. High res is too small for my tired eyes, low res is just....too low res :) and iambic mail refuses to work properly, I've begged it, swore at it, threatened it. I've even offered it money but it will not do what I want it to (reminds me of the blond monster). Cliemail seems to be doing a perfectly good job though, I think I’ll move over to that.
The OS5 launcher will also take some getting used to. I was a silverscreen man before, and I now find myself clicking and jogdialling 5-10 times to get to a program instead of 2-3 times when I was using silverscreen. I still need to sort and categorize my apps properly, so I'm hoping that once that’s done I'll be able to increase my speeds.
All in all it’s an amazing product, and my panic was well justified. There’s no way I can seriously compare it to my IIIc. It’s like a whole new machine, not just a PDA upgrade. A lot of my old software will need to be replaced, but its working fine now, and I’ve got all the time in the world to sort out bigger, better apps.
I am.
A very happy man.

Jas, you have remind me the time i pickup my TG-50. I just can't believe it is so stylish, sleek, cool(i mean the temperature of the machine).
It is the one thing i can't put down from my inventory...and my old Visor is just sitting there, helpless and sad.
Jas101

High five to ScottM!
wilsonch_98, I know exactly what you mean about your Visor just sitting there, looking helpless and sad.
I used to think that my IIIc was the meanest, coolest, fastest, clearest, fastest, brightest, bestest thing ever. Now it just looks fat, old, heavy, sad and washed-out. Poor thing. Have you seen disney's "toy story"? I think my Palm III could play "woody" in the PDA version of that film. eek!
Still, I guess its just a matter of time before my TG-50 gets demoted as well. Now thats a depressing thought!! I'd better shut up before I spoil my own day.

I have always trying to revive my Visor. I put it to sleep in the first hand is because it suicide by jumping from my working table to the hard floor. Its face breaks....I have to do a "face off" for it, then my pre-order TG-50 arrive....now that my TG have Keyboard, I have buy a Stowaway keyboard for my Visor to balance the difference (and it is very cheap...just US$20).
I have also try to make every program I have on TG to be on Visor.
Now, the only difference is the colored face, and the sleekness of the TG. Maybe it is time for my wife to have the Visor....

Syncing with the pc with BT will be very slow. But if you want to do so the price range for the adapter is from 50-200 usd.

MulderMX:
I sync my TG50 via a bluetooth card in my laptop and it is just as fast if not faster than the cradle and this includes syncing with Avantgo, ACT for Palm and Documents To Go. So I say go ahead and do it! It comes in especially handy when you travel for business and want to sync with your laptop at the end of the day and don't wan to haul around an extra cable/cradle.
