View Full Version : TX Bluetooth issue

I've just moved from a T3 to a TX and have run into a serious issue with Bluetooth. When accessing the Internet or email using GPRS the connection between my TX and mobile phone (Siemens S55) keeps dropping out, after a couple of minutes. However, all the browsers I have installed (Blazer, NetFront, Xiinio) and the email client (Snapper) don't realise that the connection is broken and eventually time out and report an inaccessible page. The only way to continue then is to reset and resume from where I let off - a slow process, first the reset then logging on to GPRS.
I've tried changing the Bluetooth settings, I've tried with and without BT Toggle, all to no avail. Unless I can find out how to fix this, it's back to the T3 for me when away from home, and the TX will be just for use with my home wi-fi.
Anyone got any advice?

What carrier do you have?

O2 - I live in the UK. I've had absolutely no problems with my TT3 so I don't think the carrier is an issue. Are you able to use GPRS via Bluetooth without this problem? If so, I might have a faulty unit.

I'm O2 and did the same upgrade as you. I don't use GPRS much now (it's so much slower that wireless network) but hen I have it seems to be OK. I'm using an S-E 610.

I know it is a little offtopic, but I have never heard about the browser "Xiinio" before. Is it good?

Xiino (http://www.mobirus.com/eng/products/Xiino/index_html) isn't free, but I find it to be very nice: You can adjust its cache, decided graphics quality, save webpage contant as Memos, save webpages to external memory cards, and pass it a number of links (such as links from an RSS program like QuickNews) then have it download them sequentially at one time instead of clicking a link in QuickNews, reading it in Blazer, then going back to QuickNews for the next link, etc.
If you use a Mac, there's a free program that lets you sync Xiino's bookmarks with your Mac, although the program is a bit unreliable.

To return to the original subject...
I contacted Palm about this, spent a long time on the phone to their helpdesk trying to sort the problem. Eventually the agent agreed that there was a problem and provided an RMA number. I sent the phone for repair, got it back today... Guess what? No improvement. In my frustration I did another Internet search and what did I find? A message on the Palm Knowledge Support Library stating that Bluetooth doesn't work properly with the S55! (on this page (http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=60,E=0000000000458006969,K=4843,Sxi=5,useTemplate=Case.tem,CASE=40656) .
This is annoying. For one thing, why don't the Palm agents know all the issues that are in the Knowledge Support Library? For another, why doesn't it work with this phone when the T3 works perfectly? I knew that the use of non-volatile memory degraded performance compared with the T3, but surely Bluetooth is something completely different?
I know that this will not help you much, but I had the same problem with my Siemens S65 and the Palm T3. Since I changed to a TX everything works fine.
Nither the Mobiel provider nor Palm were able to solve the problem.
If you have the oportunity just try with another TX and the same mobiel phone or vice versa.
Good luck! :)
