JackFlash 3.0b6 is now out. However, it is interesting that a remark appears in Bradyer's technical support page (http://www.brayder.com/support/):
"TG50 Support: The TG50 is supported by this release, but it seems that not all TG50's have Flash. We will soon be releasing a program to test your device for Flash. "
Anyone has more information about that?

Why does Sony do that? Put flash in some of the same models and not in the same ??

I actually have upgraded to the latest version of JackFlash in hopes of gaining some additional memory and tried on two of my TG50 units. Jackflash indicated that none of my units had any flash memory. This was very disappointing especially after spending the money to upgrade and found no use for the program.

how do you know if it has ROM? where did you get it from? and when did you get it?

After installing Jackflash, it tells you whether the unit has any available flash or not. In my case, none of the 2 units did. TG50s were purchased within 2-4 weeks in the US.

I always buy japaness version rather than export version, coz japan version always have different with export version.
My fujitsu (MG10AM jap ver)/(S6010 Int ver) Notebook is also japan vers., it has optical audio out, otherwise, same model S6010 of Int/export version doesnt have, damn it! Even the update jap ver driver is fastest.
But I was suffer the japan languge problem of software like remote commander, damn it!

sigh... i was hoping to see some successful posts here regarding jackflash... :(
guess i'll have to wait till that utility to test the flash is released by them before i spend my $$$ on the software.
cant believe sony did this... we'll have to stick with apps that are useless when memory is such a scarce resource on the palm.

Has anyone found out a way to get at the 4MB that Sony has reserved for the OS? I paid for a 16MB device, and I want to USE my 16MB. Also, can someone post a link to a program that tests how much ROM you have?

Does the zLauncher (ver 3.01) system info accurately display how much ROM you have on an OS5 device? On my TG-50/U it shows i have 8MB of ROM. Can anyone confim this?

I've just installed and used Jack Flash. No problems whatsoever!
Works better than Jack Flash on the T|T (no hang-ups or resets).
If I remember correctly, there was a little over 4 MB available. I was able to put there apps into Flash with 68K left on the ROM.

Where: I purchased mine at the local CompUSA in Honolulu, Hawaii the first week the TG-50 was released.
Where Made: Made in Japan
Additional Info:
The serial number, minus the last digit is:
28939930-300173*
Hope this might let others figure out if it was a certain production run which came with flash.
I'll take some digi pics and post them here (if I'm allowed).

Well, can't remember where I stored my digital camera! So pics are out for the immediate future.
What I can tell you is that I did try the ORIGINAL beta and it did TRY to 'mount' the Flash but became stuck in an endless loop of death after soft resetting -- i.e., I did not get the 'no flash ROM' message.
This is exactly how much RAM is avialable to you if you use Jack Flash: 3647K.
I thought it was over 4 MB, but it appears ~ 3.5 MB is available. Too bad Jack Sprat doesn't work on OS5 yet! I'd LOVE to dump the clie launcher and some other Clie stuff I've already replaced with 3rd party apps!

Take1, you did a great job.
My TG50 is also japaness version, I have not yet to test since I did not have jackflash.
My serial no is seem to yours batch number.
Batch no-serial no
28939900-100700x
How about differnet version of TG50 batch/serial no?

Thanks! :)
My Clie is English ROM, but it does look like the first digits (batch?) are VERY close -- perhaps I received Japanese region hardware with an English ROM flashed on it so it would make the promised release date in the US?
Perhaps the TG-50s in the US were supposed to be non-flash, but the first batch HAD to be flash because the chips weren't ready for the production line? If that's the case it's the first time I've ever been REWARDED for being an early adopter of a PDA.
