I am a Macintosh and Pocket PC user. I am thinking of going back to Palm OS after a many year hiatus just to make syncing less of a pain.
I bought a Tungsten C, but found it too heavy, not aesthetically pleasing, and no stereo sound. (Buh!) I'm taking it back tomorrow.
The TG-50 looks like a sweet PDA - keyboard (I like thumb keyboards for long data entry!), sleek form, sharp screen, Palm OS 5.
However, I want WiFi and Palm OS 5.2.x (Grafitti anywhere, like I used to have with Jot on my Palm).
Is there anything on the horizon?

There have been assorted postings (major Palm sites) re an upcoming WiFi stick from Sony. Possibly appearing this summer. As for OS 5.2.x, I'm not aware of any deal-breaker differences between it and 5x. As for Graffiti replacement/enhancement, there are several alternatives, working with OS5.
FWIW, I gave up on my casio E125 (too big to carry everywhere comfortably, and, uh, less than stable OS :)) and picked up the Treo 90. Nice machine, but the low resolution eventually sent me on the prowl again. Picked up the TG50, and it really is like the best of both worlds-- great sound (you'll have to get your own headphones) and video, and software-paradise availability. Thing paid for itself within a week or so due to increased productivity-- it's with me, I keep good notes, and I'm on top of my work. **And** I get to bop my head on the way home from work listening to MP3s. Gotta love it.
Oh- while i do have WiFi, I've opted to stick with my Blackberry (957) for mail. Nothing out there currently comes close. It's usually nearby, but the TG50 is darn near always attached via a clip-case to my jeans or whatever.
have fun with your searching!

I gather I could repurchase Jot again if I went this route. By the time I make a choice, it'll probably be on the Clies.

That's what I want - ability take notes, sync painlessly with my Mac, and be entertained. One thing about CLies - they have that scroll wheel on the side. After using it on the Casios and Toshiba, I will require that. :) I hate scrolling through web pages with a D-pad.
MarkSpace is coming out with Missing Sync for Pocket PC, so maybe my pain won't be so bad.

Thanks! I do want embedded WiFi - we have a campus-wide WLAN, and I can use AIM/AOL/ICQ to communicate with others.
Now, I will have to see if Palm OS devices can handle getting IMs while the IM app is not the foreground app....

Are you looking to be able to write anywhere on the screen, or is the Jot handwriting system what your looking for?
While OS 5.2 offers Graffiti 2, it's only based on Jot, but not really Jot. From what I read at PalmSource's website, Graffiti 2 does not have the built-in abilty to write anywhere on the screen.
BUT, you can download an app like Graffiti Anywhere, or NewPen (both are free) and you will have the ability to write anywhere on the screen.
So if your looking for Jot, you will probably need to purchase Jot either way you go, if your looking for writing anywhere on the screen, Graffiti Anywhere or NewPen will work with whatever route you go.

I was able to try this out on the Tungsten C, and I could write anywhere on the screen. Cool!

Is the Tungsten C really that big? I'd keep it 'cause it's got a fast processor and 64MB of RAM. I bet Sony's unit that will go against the Tungsten C will cost twice as much as the Tungsten C. I hope Sony doesn't do that. I just really want something in the form factor of the T665 with a 320 x 480 screen and VG (no thumbboard), at least 64MB of RAM and the same price as the Tungsten C.

It's larger than my Toshiba e740, which is my current benchmark; it's also larger and heavier than the Shapr Zaurus SL-5500.
