I use iSilo to read a variety of things but enjoy most the New York times which I get from this URL:

http://www10.nytimes.com/nytimes-partners/omnisky/main.html

but the above hasn't been updated since April 14th. I found this URL recently posted on these forums:

http://archive.nytimes.com/nytimes-partners/omnisky/main.html

but it doesn't seem to work either. Has the times stopped having a good mobile edition? Is it still on AvantGo (I switched from it over a year ago, but haven't tried the new hires version yet).

NYT disabled access to the mobile link for any browser that is not Avantgo. See also here: http://www.turcic.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=321

As an alternative, I would suggest you use iSilo to download from the real NYT page using your login and cookies. More info here:

Also, news.google.com can be downloaded in txt form at http://news.google.com/news/gnmainlite.html
But be warned. LINK INTENSIVE!

no idea.
MP goes into auto mode and updates automatically. Unlike Isilo where you can add a url, I have no idea how to even look up what url MP is chasing.

If anybody knows how to, let me know.

You could capture this data with a protocol analyzer. Ethereal is free, and works well from PCs and Unix systems. It is available from http://www.ethereal.com .

You can still get the NYT data from the "avantgo only" link...just change the HTTP header to identify yourself as "Avantgo" when you download it......

If you're referring to user-agent settings, then no, that doesn't work (or it doesn't work based on the user-agent setting I've used all along, which references avantgo).

Mozilla/3.0 (compatible; AvantGo 3.2)

There may be another way to express this I'm sure.

I don't think so in this case. One can easily set the Apache .htaccess to only allow browser clients coming from the Avantgo IP range (syncxx.avantgo.com). And if you are not from Avantgo, you will be redirected to the front page......
