View Full Version : Weird, my battery readings are floating...

Hi,

I've been noticing that my 6 month old battery after charging up goes gradually to 100%. Then, after using normal applications it drops, as it should, but I notice it drops to a value i.e. 89% and then gradually it raises to about 93%/94%. This didn't happen before. It would drop to a value and maintain it. I charge it everyday.
Can something happen to the battery circuitry while charging that can cause this? And how can I make kind of a reset to the battery?
Or can it be the software that gives a wrong indication? - I'm reading through Facer (my launcher).

Thanks for your help,

RuiD

I don't know how accurate battery meters really are, but, I replaced my battery in my NX-80 about ten months ago and I am getting shorter battery life and some fluctuation in the battery meter. Seems that under load, the battery is draining much faster than when the replacement cell was new. If I turn it off for a while and turn it back on, the battery meter does show increased battery life. I can say that the battery is not lasting as long as the one that shipped with the Clie from Sony. I am starting to think that with all the advances in battery technology, the replacement cells we are buying are of mediocre quality.

That's exactly what's going on with my Clie.

I think I once read that the battery meter recalibrates itself based on the current draw.
Besides, as it comes to LiIon batteries, temperature changes causes many flactuations in the gauge - it's a known.

Well, I'm actually going over to Winter time... but temperatures are dropping from 22 during the day to 10 during night... is it possible?

I read that when you reset your palm in the cradle it resets the battery level also. I did just that yesterday. I then ran the BatteryTest application and it shows good values (comparing to other values of users). I'm now running a background application to be sure of the data....

Can anyone confirm this thing of soft resetting in the cradle?
