one of the way i can think of is replace the current fat32 driver with the fat driver. but the problem is i dont know where to get the fat driver for ux50. could somebody tell me where to get the driver?

why not just delete the fat32 driver? (you might need a warm reset for this: press and hold Blue+PgUP while resetting on the back of the unit; then Ctrl+H for the home screen and use a file manager program to delete the driver)

on my device, there are no FAT* files in RAM. in ROM, there's one: FATFS (the latter is only visible with PalmInsiderPro, using settings to show ROM files)

strangely, i'm using the resco explorer to view the device file in rom. i saw that 2 files. i already deleted the fat32, the remaining file is fatfs which is the system file that i cant delete at all. may i know how many driver show i c when i installed the fat32 in the ux50. er... what is the proper way to load the fat32 to the machine? by data import or by install tool like wat we normally do?

you should check the original discussion for this (my guess is you need to put it onto MS first, then use a file manager, FileZ, PalmInsederPro, maybe Resco Expl.)

The safest way is to do a hard reset. Deleting the FAT32 driver may cause problems...

may i know what is the FATFS all about?
i already deleted the FAT32 from the machine, so far no problem occur. em... i think all the while i install the driver in the wrong way, that is why i can not feel the different of the new driver.
i repeat again, to load the fat32 to the machine i need to do it this way:
data import to ms ---> from ms i use the resco explorer to send to the rom
am i right?

Yeah that sounds right. A soft reset should activate it if it is not working.

just to make it clear:
to install fat32 driver: copy it to fat16 stick or internal media (dont hotsync), use filez to copy it to ram, soft rest and thats it.
to uninstall fat 32 driver: enter filez, check the fat32, change the creator id to "1111", reset the device, delete the file using filez.
dont mess with the FATFS file. its a rom file that handle the palm file system.
you may want to keep the fat32 driver installed. it access fat16 cards faster then fatfs. just dont use fat32 formatted cards with the builtin media applications.
One little thing: instead of changing the creator ID, resetting and then deleting it, select fat32, get its attributes, and set the recyclable attribute. Soft reset, and it'll be gone.

I never knew that. I don't disbelieve you either, but is there a benchmark to illustrate the difference in access speeds?
