Has anyone experienced their screens freezing when watching movies on a CF card? It freezes all the time when I try to fastforward with the bar...I wonder if there will be a fix to this problem...I have an IBM 340MB Microdrive...Thanks!

It really doesn't freeze. You need to let the movie catch up with the new position of the slider bar. It will catch up after several seconds depending on how far you slid the bar and the size of the movie.

Interesting... I'm using a Lexar 1 GB card, and when I encode a movie at the high quality setting it refuses to play at all. The screen turns completely white.
If however, I encode it at the standard quality setting, it plays without a hitch.
Weird... has anyone else experienced this?

I have a 1GB sandisk CF card and I have the same problems. Also I have some videos that won't play at all on my card but will play on other CF Cards and All MS Cards. I was in the beta test and I know that the developer is working on finding a solution... i just hope they can get it fixed. I think it just depends on Card Brand and size... not sure though...

If you read the attached documentation, then you would know it was an issue that hasn't been resolved yet.

Does this mean that hi quality movies will not work in the CF card? Or is this only limited to certain cards?
Movie playing is one main criteria for me to buy the CF card & driver.
Thanks in advance...

Yes... When I made some testsin a french forum I realized that...
In fact when I encode with Image encoder in the best quality the sound is OK, but the video isn't smooth at all, and the controls are freezed and I have to reset the NX...
But if I encode in normal or low quality then the movie plays smoothly and the controls are up :)
I also tried MPEG movies, the controls are ok, sound ok, but the video isn't smooth at all :(
I also tried several settings with Kinoma, and I never had problems...
The thing also I tried is to format the CF with FAT and several settings for clusters size (1 ko, 2ko, 4ko, 8ko) and the more "big" the cluster is, the smoother the video is in best quality mode...
But controls are still freezed... An another guy in a french forum experienced also the "white screen" thing...

It seems it slightly depends from the cards...
I talked with a guy who had the "white screen" with the same video and personnaly the movie plays, but controls freezed, sound ok, but video not smooth at all...
I had no problems with standard quality and, in my opinion, the quality in this mode is enough for my happyness ;)

Thanks Imame.
Does that means other cards have no problem with running movie in high quality compression? Sorry for being too pedantic...
Cheers

Hi YTTAN, did you get the 512mb APACER CF card you mentioned in another post? If you did, is the card good? I'm going to SLS tomorrow and may buy one.
