OK guys my parents are going to be getting me a new console for Christmas. Need some opinion. I can either get the Xbox 360 Premium or the Nintendo DS and Wii, or a $500 PS3. Whatever system you choose please leave some feedback. I do have an HDTV so i'd like to get a system that supports HD.

You double posted... ;)
Anyway, I wouldn't get the PS3, Wii is cool (can play N64 games, my fav!!!) but Xbox 360 does have Halo, which is pretty popular.

They all support HDTV's. The Wii won't look as shiny, but IMO it will be the most fun, and new... That's why I voted for it.
If you want to make a "safe" choice, probably the 360. I've honestly always hated the Xbox... Looking at the old ones still makes me sick, but, the 360 is looking slicker and slicker for the gamer who wants the "classic" experience with every passing day... [Since Sony is fumbling...]

No contest! WIIIIIIII! Zelda launch title plus the good ol classics with the virtual console! If you are getting a PS3, split that money up and get a DS with the Wii as well. :)

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
It won't support the higher HD, that's hinging on Nintendo, but the GPU it ships with will have enough power to do so. They would just need to offer an adapter and let the developers know to develop for it. It will definately support 480p though.
Anyway, the games the X360 touts are rather passé, and I'm not holding my breath for the PS3 at the momment. I'll need to see it in the wild.
Fun is all I care about, and the current crop of systems are boring, not counting the DS of course. I would take a DS over a X360 any day.

um, odd... i was first one who woted the ps3. i just quite much hate nintendo wii and ds. i just trust more to sony's quality and how much it could offer in ps3. though they haven't even release the ps3 and they said that they will release the ps3 in 2007 march so christmas is over by then. anyway i'm still playing old good ps2 =) i haven't never been huge computer player or even xbox fan either. i just hate xbox's controller and it's microsoft system so it little much freak me out. so SONY's PDAs, PS3 AND PSP all the way!

Kind of odd that you trust Sony's quality, when the PS2 had reliability issues when it was first released and the same goes for the PSP. The Gamecube on the other hand is a very reliable console and had very few isues when it was introduce. The DS has also been really solid and can take quite a bit of abuse. And don't forget the recent Sony world-wide battery recall. But I'm sure their quality control is still better than MS and it first run with the Xbox. ;)
But it's not odd about you being the first vote PS3. Even though $600 isn't ridiculous, it still exceeds most peeps expectations for game console's cost. To top it off, the Wii really looks promising when it comes to fun and something new. Sony and MS are mearly offering enhanced rehashes of what we've been playing for the past 6 years. I'm personally bored with that crap and it's safe to say there are plenty of other peeps in the same boat. :o

I'm not even sure you'll be able to buy a PS3 by Christmas time ;)
The Wii looks like it'll be *the* console, but I'm waiting to see how the controller and games pan out.
The X360 is nice hardware but the games suck ***. The only game of note would be Halo2 and thats just for closure on the previous 2!
You could buy a GC, a PS2 and an XBox and lots of games for those instead :D

Hah, Sony and quality in the same sentence.
They used to make good products. I was a Sony fanboy.
I don't feel the same anymore. This is not Slashdot, but mark me down for a +5 [LOL ROOTKIT AND BATTERY]

If you want ultra-polished, check out Red Steel. From what I've seen, it's an X360 lookin' title for Wii, and its exclusive.
For all of you that say "No," Ubisoft revamped ALL the graphics, so look again!

My friend asked me where I preordered mine, because his friend had gone to the Irvine Spectrum to preorder the Wii and the line was out the door.

PS3 games are $90!!!   HOLY BLEEP!!! I did not know this...
Err, for that price, all games better guarantee great and exciting gameplay and ship in deluxe collector boxes. Now given this is just an updated PS2 that has been made purdier, it's offering pretty much the same control and same type of games. Would you pay $90 for an updated PS2 game?
When I get around to buying one, I'll be looking to the bargin bin for games, or just watch movies on it.

Yeah, I watched the CNN news video last night and they stated the price.
It should still be on there, I just didn't see it on the front page when I checked just now.

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Is Sony just dumb?

I asked my friend about this, since he's in the know, and he sated that since Sony is only shipping 80k PS3s in Japan, they gave the retail stores permision to charge what they want. This is so they can make their margin, since 80k units means less games being sold, which is where they make their money.
So once Sony gets enough PS3s on the market, the price will be 59.99 a game. So this is only a temp thing. :)

$90 a game means less games being sold, too... ;)

I also read that many were buying systems for resale, without games. :)
