Hey all, hoping someone might be able to help me out, as I'm going looney with how sloooowly this is going.
I've had a SJ30 since they came out, still works beautifully. However, due to the price of memory sticks until very recently, I've not felt that it was a worthwhile cost to get one, since it was mainly just used for E-books and as a quickie-reference tool when I'm playing my (computer hogging) MMORPG.
On my most recent trip to the Fry's, I managed to pick up a 128mb x-brand memory stick for $9.99, works fine in my clie but I can't stand that it can only install files to it via the synch cable, which is running on USB 1.0, and as I speak it's been transferring this 37.7 MB file for over half an hour and isn't showing any signs of being finished.
My laptop has a memory stick reader in it, and I am hoping that I might be able to install things to the memory stick that way?
Maybe this isn't possible, I'm not sure. I've never used any flash memory things before, so I'm still learning what the limitations are.
Any suggestions and/or links to tips/tricks/hints/HAX would be appreciated. ^_^

Hi,

I own a SL10 in perfect working condition, it is my default e-book reader.

I never install apps or books on my SL10 through the sync cable I use the memory stick card reader for that kind of job. Depending on what you want to do and wich apps you use:
- To install apps (1 prc): simply copy the prc to the following folder in the Memorystick: /Palm/Launcher
The app will be visible on your device selecting the category of the memorystick.

- To install apps composed of serveral files (prcs and pdbs, you will need Filez installed on the Palm device): I copy all files in a folder on the memorystick, once copied, insert the memorystick in the device and start Filez, Filez is a smart, smal filemager, simply use it to go the folder on the memorystick and copy all files to the device.

- Other type of files, depending on the app you use you will need to know where the app store files on the memorystick. For example Plucker stores ebooks on the memorystick /Palm/Launcher folder but Documents To Go 6 uses the folder /Palm/Programs/DXTG, Handmap uses /Palm/Programs/HandMap, etc.

Sorry for my ugly english, if my explanation is not clear enough ask me please.
