Hello, I'm a newbie here, and have tried to search for this topic with no success. My question is why does the NX70 flash player play everything in slow motion? Is there anything I can do to speed it up?

Are you using the Audio Player at the same time?

Or what kind of flash file are you using?

How does the one that came with the Clie work?

There is nothing running in the background and I'm trying to play flash movies in the built-in flash player.

I understand that, but what about the Sony supplied sample flash file movie???

Does that one play okay?

Oh, sorry didn't get you there for a second. That one that sony provided plays at normal speed, but when I tried playing a couple of movies from this link but it was slow. http://homestarrunner.com/main5.html

The flash animation 'fighting stickmen' runs slower on my clie. Perhaps the answer is that the processor speed is 4 times faster on my laptop. The sound sounds okay on both machines.

No there isnt much you can do. Honestly, the flash player on the clie's are very limited. I honestly think it sucks. But having it is better than not having it at all.

You can turn the quality down. Running flash files at low quality will increase the speed dramatically.

Are you sure they are Flash 5 version movies?

I don't think there is much you can do to speed things up. Hopefully you have plenty of free RAM. Again no hacks like keyboard or other device drivers are enabled.

You could try searching back for past Flash threads.

Have you ever find a flash file through WiFi LAN which was playable on your Clie?
I found some limitation announcements on Macromedia's site according to "Flash Player on CLIE" issue:

Network (HTTP) functions are not supported
Although the Sony CLIÉ supports Bluetooth and has a Wireless LAN card, Macromedia Flash Player cannot load or request SWF, XML, or any form of data from the web. This is an important feature that we're hoping Sony adds soon.

wangums,

I've tried to run homestar flash files too. They do run slow unless you change the quality setting to low, and even then they are slow. Plus, the NX flash player doesn't support MP3 audio in the flash files, so homestar clips won't have any sound. :(

Like Larry already said, make sure you have a lot of free RAM. Changing the quality setting will give you the best speed increase, but I've noticed that by freeing a few extra megs of RAM will give a speed boast in some Flash files.

Well I've switched the quality to the lowest setting, and it has increased the speed. The picture isn't the best, but at least it runs smoother.

I've found that if you have the Belkin G700 keyboard driver "enabled" that the flash player with stop, or run really slow.

By unenabling the driver, the flash player will work normally. You might check to see if you have this driver installed, and enabled. If not, then you might check to see if you have TealMaster or X-Master running any hacks in the background.

The flash files need internal memory to play well, eventhough you have it in your MS.

I have 5 MB free on my handheld and the flash programs work
great.

and while were on the Subject, these are great movies to show
to your friends on your handheld:
