Hello.
I have the following problem.
After I had installed an update for the operating system, the MEMORY
stick is not any longer detected!
Also a Hardeset did not offer remedy.
Can someone say to me, which update I needs?
The following applications have the version date:
DspFwLoader v.1.0
DspHandlerLoader v.1.0
DspHandlerPatch v.1.0
MsaLib v.2.5
MsaLipUpdate25 v.1.1
What can i do?
Pit:)
Hi,
I had a similar problem (several times).
The solution was simple, because it was not a
software issue, but a hardware one.
Press several times on the letter "C" on the backside
of your clie.
Under normal circumstances this solves the problem
the contacts have in contacting the stick.
You should do this, when your Clie is switched off. It is
not important to have the stick out- or inside.
Hope this helps
Christian

Does this memory stick problem seem to be one of the quirks of the NR? Or is it prevalent in all of the clies?

It's a known flaw in the in the NR design, that has since been ironed out in the newer clamshell models. The slot for the MS loses contact with the MS creating the issue. there is a simple how to on how to fix it yourself somewhere on this board that I wrote a while back (actually I did it from memory from old posts from before the great crash, so I can't take the credit for it). It takes about 15 minutes and permanently fixes the problem. Or you can send it back to sony, they know it's a problem and will fix it for you, only it will take noticably longer than 15 minutes. Good luck.

I have one with CompUSA. But I'll wait till a new model that suits my needs comes up so I can make use of it. Hopefully something with the screen of an NR size of an NR/NX, CF, wifi and bluetooth.. Maybe I'm asking for too much...

You're not asking too much, just do the paper trick fix in the mean time, make an effort to not strip out the screws (it's not like it's hard, just show modest attention to detail) and when a model comes out that meets your needs, take out the paper. It's pretty easy.

It happened to me, and my trick is:
When entering the Memory stick, do it slowly, you will se the blinking light (The Clié is reading the MS) make a pause and when it stops flashing push it all the way until it gets in its place.

Your only choice is a hard reset. Sorry.
That is correct, you unfortunately need a hard reset.

No, no, no I think you don't need a hard reset

I had this problem a month or so ago. Mine was still under warranty so I sent it in. The turnaround (Hawaii-San Diego) was six days. They fixed the problem and also did a general maintenance check because I listed some other minor probs on the info sheet. I hated being without it for a week, but now I feel it was worth it.
BTW, PigBurner... Thx for your advice back then :)
