Woohoo!! Thanks for the heads up, Larry! It feels like "Christmas in April"!
I've placed my order and the files were immediately emailed to me! I honestly believe that this single software development will truly transform the useage of Clie's all over the world! (Profound, eh?)
Big ups to EruWare! You did what "they" said couldn't be done! Way to go!!

Am I the only one who thinks it's a bit presumptuous to require payment without trial for a program just out of beta? For $27, I'd appreciate at least a 3 day trial. Does that sound outrageously out of whack to anyone?

No it doesn't sound out of whack but prepare yourself to get hammered for saying it anyway :).

No!
Because JackFlash is another app that comes to mind.
Can't divulge why it had to be done this way.

it's a BFS why you can't trial it - guess they couldn't cripple it.

I've bought it before my trip out of town and now I'm waiting anxiously for the registration code. The site says up to 48 hour wait. What is the experience of users? How long does it take? It won't do a thing without the registration code!

This might be a dumb question but perhaps one of the beta testers can answer. Can I transfer digital camera image from CF card to MS so that WIFI card can be used in slot? Without a laptop hotsynch or card reader?
Thanks

I think the reason why it was released without trial is because it (CF driver) was leaked on the net. They are trying to protect it from getting pirated. This is an example of how warez hurts everyone. I have to buy a program based on faith.

Not a dumb question at all.
Yes, you should be able to do as you describe.

We're not talking about a game here where some people will like it and others not. It's black and white. They give a list of things it can be used for. Either it performs them, or it doesn't. Do you want to be able to use a CF card in your NX/NZ in the ways listed on their website? If so, buy it! If not stop complaining!

Does anyone have a VFSMark of the CF cards? Is it as fast as MS Pro or close to it?

WOW :D!!!
It would pay to keep copies on the memory stick in case of a hard reset. At least until we know that a backup will restore it. If you need the backup from the CF card, then store the driver on the MS.

i know it's not on the list but i have a kingston 64 mb (as a matter of fact NO kingstons are on their list)... do we know if cards other than those on the list are compatible?

Can someone tell me about formatting the card. My card is listed as supported but I get an error message. First I get a message "Would you like to format the external device? This will erase ALL deta on this device." So I click OK and get my error message "This operation is not supported. (0x2901)." I did see that in the known issues is says cards cannot be formatted on the Clie....so I can format the card with my card reader...which gives me two choices 1) FAT32 or 2) FAT. Damn....nevermind....FAT worked! Perhaps my ignorance can help someone else so I'll post this anyway!

You should be able to try your Kingston CF card.
Microdrives momentarily are READ only (must be selected)
AND if they work email eruware so that they can add that to their compatible list...
Note, if you get some sort of error, select slow mount, slow mode before mounting may ALLOW the CF card to mount error free (eg my Lexar 80MB 4x, slow mount)

yeah this is what i got from support:
At this time there are no known non-working CF cards (microdrives work read-only). It should work.

Can you run the CF and MS at the same time?
IE - Mp3's on CF and MS for Apps/Games?
I am looking into a 1gb CF and 128mb MS...

You can't run mp3 off CF and access MS because you have to run in MS Masq. mode to use audio player. However, I think you can use CF and MS at the same time for things like Mapopolis. I haven't tested that yet though.
The CF seems to draw alot of power. Playing mp3's off it (in hold mode, which turns the screen off) and it looks like battery drain is faster than even with the wifi card (in powersave mode).
But seems to work as advertised so far!

When the CF card is mounted, the OS sees two VFS volumes. They can work together. I have apps launching off of both in Zlauncher and the standard OS5 launcher. The only time you can't use both at the same time is when you want to use the CF for the Sony built in apps. You can, though, listen to mp3's off the MS while launching an app off the CF. It's like adding a second hard drive to your computer.

Are you using an older CF card? The newer ones should less than the MS.
PowerSaveMode shouldn't be used on the WL100, it can slow down the connection speeds and/or make it drop out when nearing the fringe area of it's range.

I'm using a cheapo Mr. Flash 256 MB CF. It definately is eating up electrons faster than my wifi but its not bad, I plan to get a new 1 GB CF soon.
Understood on the powersave mode. I tried turning powersave off when I first got my wifi card, it resulted in a significant boost in speed and responsiveness ...but then you could actually see my battery meter drop in real time :D I mostly use wifi at home so powersave mode works ok for me.

Very good on the PowerSaveMode. It's a mixed bag and not all are hurt by it. For the two clies here, we can't even connect to the Linksys WAP11 with PowerSave enabled. The WL100 does suck up the juice though when surfing :)!
I did some research on the newer Sandisk cards for example. The Sandisk specs shows it's drawing something like 31 milliamps in operation while the Memory Stick specs show it's drawing 47 milliamps in use. When idle both shut down to save power. Those may not be the exact numbers as I am doing it from memory. The actual representation is approx the same. So far in my actual usage, I did not notice any appreciable difference. Now if the CF card does NOT enter the sleep mode, then yes, the power consumption will kill the batts in no time.
I wrote this as a clarification for other readers benefit too :).

Question:
If I cannot format the CF within the Clie', I must also, then, purchase an external card reader, yes?
Soooo... this'll ecktually cost me MORE than expected. Any chance the "format within Clie'.. feature" will be added in the near future?
What is the update path for this driver? What'll be the cost of updating for those who've bought in now vs. waiting awhile?
Thanks.

Free lifetime updates from what I understand and is written. Format capability is being worked on. External forces caused rapid deployment. Yes, an external card reader is necessary for formatting at this time.

Cost more than expected or more than the alternative?
256 MB CF: $60 + 27 + 10 (reader) = $97 vs. $100 for MS Pro
512 MB $100 + 27 +10 = 137 vs. $235 for MS Pro
1 GB $215 + 27 + 10 = $252 vs $600 for MS Pro

Cost sometimes is not the only factor. The NX users will love the CF if they have a Bluetooth MS.

Hi,
Does the CF card appear as a drive letter using ms import export ?

Currently there is no way to mount the CF card as a drive on the desktop. You can hotsync to the card using the Palm Install tool, use a CF card reader, or copy files from your MS to your CF card.

This is a really dumb question, but I don't actually have any CF cards, so I don't know. Do the cards stick out? If so, how much? Are they easy to take out, the way the MS just pops out when pressed? Are they easy to put in?
And I'd love to see the benchmark data. My 128mb MS is more than half full, and I haven't put even half of the etexts I want on it. So I need to decide between mspro and cf.

the CF cards stick out a couple of mm, you can extract them easily with a fingernail under the inbuilt lip/ridge
very easy to insert - just push !

@pruss:
Yes, the CF-crad will stick out about 3mm (not much, but more than the blind did.
