I am running Mandrake Linux 9.1 on my PC and I have a virtual machine (VMware) running Windows 2000 under this Linux installation. I want to perform a hotsync with the MS Outlook that is running inside the virtual machine (VMware) through the USB port, but everytime I try, I get the response that the serial (probably because the USB is emulating a serial port...) is in use by the host OS (Linux). I have searched the Net and I found that the hotplug feature of the Linux kernel may be causing the problem. All solutions that I found for this problem involve disabling the hotplug feature through recompiling the Linux kernel.
Has anybody faced the same situation and found a solution? Is recompiling the kernel the only feasible solution? Any suggestion in regarding to editing the hotplug config files in the Linux distro?
Sorry if the question is too Linux biased, but I feel that maybe some of you guys may have faced the same problem. Thanks in advance!
