Does anyone know if you can you backup the complete handheld memory (not just files) onto an expansion card?

As far as the original poster's question is concerned: no, a program that simply makes a complete dump of memory towards SD does not exist.

But NVBackup does make a backup of all files (which translates in all your apps and data) :)
Other (non-freeware) alternatives:
