SONY makes the best handhelds on the market, it is in the followup that they fail miserably. Before refusing to buy their products we should try to act through other means like this petition. This way, we can keep our beloved Clies and perhaps scare some sense into Sony executives. If it gets enough signatures, it could get media attention, which would certainly raise some eyebrows at Sony as they would be scared about losing customers who do not already own Clies or other sony products.
In short, petitions, while not as effective as boycotts, can be effective and should be tried first [steps off soapbox]...

I have always been a bit perplexed by the constant negative chatter about Sony customer service on this and other discussion boards.

I have had two EXCELLENT phone experiences with Sony Tech Support and one EXCELLENT service experience.

On the phone...they were polite, answered my questions, offered real answers and solutions...and unlike Palm, it is a toll-free number!!

When I sent in my N760C for warranty repairs, the mailer arrived in a day, the PDA came back quickly, in PERFECT condition...no problems at all with the process.

I really wonder what all the fuss is about. Like the poster above said...if you don't like the service, buy something else, because I don't think the largest consumer electronics company in the world is going to change their service process simply because a few dozen people sign a petition...they probably sell a few dozen new Clie's an hour...

As a matter of fact...

If Sony sells just 200,000 Clie's a year, that's 547 each day, or 22 every hour, 24x7x365...

Rarely are people happy with ANYONE's tech support. Just read this forum, 90% of the questions asked are covered by the manual or a quick search of the net or this forum.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Sony Tech e-mail and phone support. I know I called over 10 times without one issue unresolved.

Why would they care unless you actually threaten them. If you say "your tech support sux but I'm still going to buy your products foreva....." who god dam cares...not Sony!

Sorry, but I'm with the majority ( at least as many as have posted at this time ) I've had my share of problems with the service. In all fairness to Sony, their response time has been exceptional, better than any I've seen in the past, but I've NEVER received the answers that I've requested. Granted, the forums have been a lot of help, plus I picked up a great book that has helped a lot. But all things considered, what good is fast service, if it's WRONG service ?? Come on Sony, we're probably the most faithful users of ANY pda in the universe. If you're not going to provide customer service that's as exceptional as your products, at least provide us with better documentation !!

I agree ...
My tech support experince was not that good...Actually it is bad if I still remember it .. a year passed since that accident. They did not have motherboard in stock for my N760C, so repairment was late by a week, plus when they returned device back to me a transparent plastic over memory stick indicator was missing and I cannot find a replacement since that time and have to cover that hope with scotch tape to prevent insides from dust.
