Improvements on treo 700p?

Hi guys,
I have a Treo 650, and I was considering on changing but first I wanted to know if some key changes had been made... Like the IR Range.

Other changes to be made:

- There's a bug that keeps crashing the Treo 650 on occasions and deletes your app's preferences. Is that fixed on the Treo 700p? The people at Hobbyist Software made an app to help preserve the preferences in the 650 when that happens. Link:

- Is the IR range on the 700p between 10-15 meters? Or more like the poor range in the Treo 650.

- I know that video resolution was improved on the Treo 700p, but what about sound recording on that video, cause in the 650 is really poor.

Well, I have only had my a short time so I can't comment on the stability of the device. Secondly, I only use IR on my NX70 as a remote and haven't used it on any other device in years. Why do you ask? Lastly, the camera and video resolutions are much better and much needed by my standards. As far as the voice recording and voice quality. Never used it to much on my 650 but I can say the 700 isn't that great if your looking for a substantial improvement. Wish I could be of more help. Hope the others can comment for the first 2 points. Sorry.

I wanted to use the IR with Noviiremote... sadly on a treo 650 that does not work properly. Thanks for the comments... Please if you can try to use the IR in the 700 to change the TV to see if it works from a far. Thanks.

The IR range is about the same as the Treo 650... that is, unusable. I would have been much happier if Palm took out IR and shaved a few millimetres from the thickness.

No IR = no TV/DVD/Audio control. I'd need it.

Well, your just like me streamhawk, were both mac lovers and we love treos. But theres one thing that bothers me. You claim that your treo has a bug that crashes your treo and deletes your app preferences? that does not sound right, you may want to ask palm about your treo or you may need to install a rom update.

But Personaly, id say you shouldnt upgrade from your 650. The only real difference is that the newer version has EVDO and a slightly better arrangement of buttons on the front. Im actually planning on doing a mod soon, but i need to get my hands on a 700p housing. But yea, its not worth it to upgrade.
