HI...
my ****I*G LD got scratched from the ****I*G Aluminium hard case (ORIGINAL)... so I'm really pissed off. It's a little mark on the bottom, but I'm so angry that I would like to smash the device to concrete. It's the same for me as to have it stolen; it was perfect, now it isn't, I hate it, my mind thinks that it's like it's been stolen, I just don't "have it" anymore...
So... does yours have any mark? And how do you cope with it? Do you care? Do you feel as sh*t as I? Anyway to replace the case? (LD case, not the Aluminium one)
Thanks and this really feels like if someone close died, really, I'm not kidding...

or leave it IN the case so you won't see it.

I contemplate this koan:
I close my eyes
Only for a moment,
then the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground,
though we refuse to see
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind

Well..uh.. in response to Dan_Aykroyd's post, I just noticed that my LifeDrive got a small dent in the upper-right corner... must've been from the slap/fall I gave it several weeks back...
Apparently it partially slipped off the hard case upon impact.. it's an itty-bitty scratch though, so no sense in mourning it. Let's just say that my LifeDrive is now "well-loved" :D
Ciao!

Call it "well-loved", as furball puts it, and move on.

.....It's a little mark on the bottom....
......Do you care?....
Take a deep breath man, it's only a scratch. Is it on the bottom of the case or the bottom of the screen?
This is the only place where people will care :) The stylus for my Clie NR70v kept scratching the screen and it perturbed me (I had pre-ordered it for $600), but I learned to let it go and enjoy my device anyway.
My question is, what's wrong with the leather case that came with your LD?

My motto is always look at the bright side.... at least it wasnt your screen that got screwed :)

too prone to in-case button presses and I, for one, hate to use the lock position on the power button...

I scratched my Treo 650 up pretty good. The person I sold it to really didn't care, so I was happy. :p

Oh, I use the lock feature religously, and I'm not a religous person :D I was going to buy a case till I discovered the nice case that came with it. To each his own I suppose

I kind of guessed that you werent religious. Lucky for you Christians have gotten past burning people at the stake. I guess we've developed. Now an avitar with picture of Allah holding a daisy while giving a two finger peace sign - that would get me chuckling (but I guess that's a bit risky for you) !

Had no idea what you were talking about until I realized I had avatar picts turned off. Thanks for the laugh!

... and this really feels like if someone close died, really, I'm not kidding...Ummm... if your only problem has been that you got a scratch, then I'd like to buy your life drive. :)
Original - Infinte reset loop - got replaced by Palm
Replacement #1 - Worked for several months, then hard drive went "wonky" - got replaced by Palm
Replacement #2 - This "reconditioned" replacement lasted less than twelve hours - Battery died - currently waiting on Palm to send replacement #3.
P.S. - Just so you know - they ship it to you with the 1.0 OS still on it. You still, after all this time, have the thrill of downloading/installing the 2.0 update yourself. Double

slaughters, that really sucks. Its amazing that they are still having these reliability problems almost a year and a half along in the production process.

Well, of course I'm disapointed with their quality control assurance, but I am also releived that they will replace it when it weirds out. (I just hope that if replacement #3 goes bad it does it within the 90 Day warranty)
To me - the poor quality control, the lack of updating their devices to use their new OS out of the box, the dribbling away of software developement compainies, are all just symptoms of a product which is in the process of being phased out.
I mostly use my PDA for reading e-books anyway - so I'm thinking of going to the iLiad eBook reader (http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/19/irex-reveals-deets-on-its-iliad-ebook-reader/) when the price on it drops to something reasonable.

I did get a scratch on the top of my LD a few days ago and it made me kind of mad, but not like it did to poor Dan

Yes, lucky for me, although...well I could go on for a while and that is totally OT, but yeah as funny as that allah avatar would be, it's not my style or belief
the lack of updating their devices to use their new OS out of the box
I find this odd, because I bought my LD on July 11th of this year and I went to update my OS, but on the update page there's a link that says 'Do I need this update?' I looked at it, followed the instructions and sure enough I already had the update! So I'm suprised they aren't sending it to you in those replacement devices.

I bought a palm hard case and it does indeed scratch the casing of the lifedrive. Mine is on the right hand side of the casing. it's the worst near the bottom but is sporadic all along that side of it :(
been in the palm hard case from about day 20, no scratches so far (now on day ~500...)
