I previously owned a m505, and used a registered version of PowerRun to run applications from the SD card. Now that I have the NX70V, I notice that applications run just fine when I install them directly to the memory stick (this was a problem in the early days of the m505). Since I still have the registered copy of PowerRun, I'm wondering what the advantages are of using that program now on the NX70V. Are there any, for that matter, or does OS5 now take care of everything powerRun used to do?
Thanks for your help...this is my first post on ClieSource, but I've been impressed with the knowledge of the posters that I've been reading for the last week.

One advantage with using POwerRun: If you're not using a 3rd party launcher, moving an app with PowerRun enables you to put the icon in any category.
PowerRun also works effectively if your app has large databases. They can 'live' on the card and just be in your Clie's Ram when the program is being used. Very handy for a program like TV Browser that has a HUGE database. (I also use it for Handyshopper & databases)
:D
Here's a thread about NX & PowerRun (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5848&highlight=PowerRun) you may find interesting.

PowerRun just makes the newer Clies even better :)!
Now it even has some support for multiple cards, please see beta v1.3b1

Thanks for your help, both of you! By the way, where do you download beta copies? I only find the released versions on palmgear, etc.

Just a question .....
DOes installing programs onto the MS using PowerRun uses more power from the battery since it accesses information from the MS???

Slightly more power, yes (this true anytime you use the MS).

Don't use PowerRun for apps that don't NEED it, that'll save you a few k here and there from the shortcuts, it adds up. For each program you have installed via PowerRun you have to have a little 3-15k shortcut installed too. When the app doesn't need/have any databases, just put it in /palm/launcher. Only use PowerRun for the apps that NEED it.
