I just got a cradle for my new E2, and to my horror there is a light on the cradle that stays on all the time. It's very annoying! Why would they design it that way?
Is this stupid light supposed to stay on all the time, or is there something wrong with the cradle?

The light is a feature. You can open up the cradle and use electrical tape or black paint to shield the bulb.

wow, it's really bright and my computer is next to my bed. So I guess I'll have to put something over it at night and hope the little light burns out fast.
really poor design, in my opinion :(

Or, you could open up the cradle and detach the bulb.

I thought about that, but it looks like it's pretty firmed glued together, and I'm afraid of breaking it. I put a little piece of black paper over the front of the piece of clear plastic and that seems to help a little bit.

Ok, I did figure out how to pull the little plastic cover off-- it slides UP, not out. There are 2 tiny LCD's in there, not replaceable bulbs, so it looks like I will try Dick Tracy's suggestion and cover them with black tape.

Hi,
you may also feel like modding a T5 cradle to fir the E2. Is a bit of dirtwork, but the LED is easier to cover up:
