I am sure you have heard of this but I thought I would share it anyway as I am quite new to my SJ-20.
I found it much easier on my eyes to view such programs as sheet-to-go with a green font on black background. The back light on my clie is very usefull as it os near impossible to see anything without it on, but my eyes start to tire after a while. It is possible to invert the blcklight to a green font on a black backgound by entering a simple command into the memo pad on your clie.
It will only work with the factory memo pad that came with the clie, not an add on app.
Simply write (on the first line) the shortcut symbol then a period then the number 8.
should look like this: shortcut.8
the shortcut symbol looks like a sideways k.
Text will then automatically change to [Inverting Backlight]
Now turn your back light on, off then on if you already have it on.
Now you should have green text on a black back ground.

Wow, nice tip.
But I wonder if it uses more battery power. Since all that black area.

Press Memo button on your SJ20.
Click on "New" button to creat a new entry.
Enter through graffti: [shortcut sign].8
You're done. Now disable backlight and turn it on again it will be inverted.

Martin, I am not sure if it uses more power as I recharge everytime I hot sync...and thats alot!! so my power never gets under 80%, but as far as I can see the power is not dropping faster than it was before...anyways I am glad you like the tip...

I missed that I was supposed to do a period followed by an 8 as oposed to an ampersand.
It works for me.

Do you mean you have an SL10? Only the SL10 has a green backlight... the SJ20 has a white backlight.

With the command entered into the Memo Pad of the SJ20, you can turn the white backlight into a green backlight, so its easier on your eyes.

On my SJ20, it literally reverses the backlight so that the text is white, background white. I don't see and green...

Okay well I accidently didn't log in there so I can't edit it, but would someone post a picture? I mean, of the green and stuff.

No you can't. It only inverts the backlight. If this actually happens on your SJ20, you have one f***ed up device.

The marvelous (and free) EasyLaunch hack has an option for inverting the display.... you can program it as a stylus stroke for instance. No need for dot shortcuts, which BTW, can be a bit exciting if you don't make that "8" correctly. If you make a "3", for example, you have disabled the auto-off feature.

Check out this webpage:

It has all the shortcuts that are available. My personal favourite is changing the battery meter to reflect NiMH batteries. Now the battery meter reads 100% with fully rechanged batteries instead of 80%!
