Hi there,

I need to transfer a .BMP file from my PC to my Clie's (NZ90) MemoryStick using the infrared connection.

The file transfer works, but when it's completed, the Clié display "Unknown data type" and the file is not stored on the Clie (neither in RAM nor in Memorystick)

I try to launch McFile or ClieFile before the transfer starts, unfortunately, it's doesn't work better.

Any idea.

Thank you

Denony

I've used McFile 2.2Beta 1. It works fine for me.

Actually the IRDa transfer of non-native Palm files it the only reason I'm holding on to McFile over ZLaunchers File Manager.

You must install all the Transfer.zip files (McTransDB.pdb & McTransferEng.prc or McTransfer.prc) within the McFile zip to get it to work!

You don't need to Launch McFile to get this to work, the McTransfer files must reside in main RAM tho!

Hope this helps!

Hi,

Thank you for your help.

I've installed the Shareware version of McTransfer 0.24. I red the readme file but I definitively don't understand how it works.

I believe I must create an entry of each file type my PC can send to my Clié (not very easy :(). But I don’t understand what information I must enter in McTransfer.

For example, for a .BMP file : What is the Creator (4 characters) ? What is the Type (4 characters too)?
For a .ZIP, a .JPG, .MP3, etc ?

Sorry, but I definitively don't understand how it works

Please help.

Thank you

I find MYWorkBench works the best IMO. I have only used it to recive files form PPC. I know a couple of people at work with Pocket PC's and with my workbench I can swap any files I want with them. I saves any beamed files onto the MS, like mp3, jpg, bmp, zip
so far i very happy with it...

I use CfZap (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=BC59FCD8-580E-4C35-814E91E4B0F820CC&prodID=7741). It is simple, easy, small (16K), and most of all FREE app. However, I don't know if it works for OS5 or not. Let us know if it does.

I have tried it.. CFZap will not work on OS5

My workbench does work on OS% and does Bluetooth also.. has a bunch of cool stuff built into it. Like split directory screens.

If there is something better than My Workbench I would like to know... but right now its the best program I know of.

Sorry, I just noticed that PalmGear still has the old version. Did you try the version 2.0, downloaded straight from mulliner.org (http://www.mulliner.org/palm/cfzap.php)?

I don't do anything special. I let my Clie hit my PC IR port (Running McFile) and on the PC (Win2k) the Wireless transfer app becomes active via the system tray. I click on the system tray icon to select files to transfer to my Palm. The files go directly to my MS - it will request which directory to put the received file in.

For beaming files to the pc the PC asks if you want to receive the file and puts it by default in the C:\Documents and Settings\userid\Desktop folder. This works for all methods of beaming files weather its PalmOS or your Launcher etc...

Thats it.  Also check page 61 of the McFile2.2Beta1 User Manual (Included in the McFile Zip)

This does work with OS 4 but if you have OS 5 it wont work Its a known issue:

The restriction matter on OS5.
Although the correspondence method is examined even for the formal version, it may remain as a restriction matter. Please approve beforehand.
Up-and-down rotation loses an effect by the item selection by JOG of a pop-up list.
The direct reception of the file transmitted from the home screen of other devices has become impossible to up to memory card. Please transmit and receive a file after a copy to up to memory card at once.

I have a friend with a palm and he has OS4 and Mcfile> it works great to transfer files.... But as for my NZ90 it don't work.

I have tried 3-4 programs to beam to and from MS: the only one I have found works is My Workbench.
