Is it (or could someone make it) possible to connect directly to a USB jump drive.
In particular using the mini USB port into a male cable with a female standard USB end in which the jump drive would plug into. Could be a real handy way of swapping files and such.

I've had a go at this one myself, but because of the USB port type on the UX (ie. it is not USB "host" compliant or something), this extremely useful mod will not work. Have a look at the Neo Flash 4-in-1 (http://www.ic2005.com/html/2005/show-44.htm) or the Datel Max drive (http://www.cqout.com/item.asp?id=1827522) instead. Both are reputed to work with the UX and a memory stick duo converter.

Thanx. I read up on those other drives.

Not to beat this into the ground or anything but I've been looking around on some other sites and there have been other inquiries into doing this sort of thing. One suggestion was the use of a 'Copy Box' or 'USB Bridge'. Discussion included noting that most PDAs act like 'slaves' not hosts but this may be resolved due to the fact that the jumper boxes are designed to work between two slaves and provide thier own power. I noticed when I uploaded the 'Driver-Free Clie on XP' the Clie appears like my jump drive. If that is the default pathway or whatever the terminology is, then maybe my jump drive could copy straight through to the memory stick on the UX.
Just throwing it out there...

From what I remember of those units, you have to copy the entire contents of the drive to the memory stick each time you want to access one file. Thus the drive can only ever hold the capacity of your smallest memory stick - there is no direct read-write access as such to the drive.
