Hi Swashplate
Huhhhh what for ...??? normally the Devices will ask for a Pass which you can select by your own: Example. Bluetooth enabled on both Devices, conencting from Phone to T|X a Message should Pop up if you will accept incomming Device, you choose yes and after that a Pass is required you choose for example on both devices 1234..... that's normally all.....

I looked through the list of supported devices on the Palm site. No Samsung's are listed.
I tried pairing using the Generic driver available from the Palm site and again no luck.
I can't imagine that Palm has completely turned it's back on Samsung?
Have you tried the Bluetooth phone pairing wizard? I think it automatically uses the appropriate driver for your phone (in most cases, it's UPDD). You don't need to download anything.

I have a T-809. Just turn on Bluetooth and discovery for both devicesand that's it. The t-809 will communicate with the TX and headset just fine.

I'm having no luck. The pairing wizard doesn't list a Samsung option. When I pick another brandname in some cases the PDA gives me a message to use the phone link updater in the Palm Folder of my PC. Again - no such animal.
I've made the TX and the Cellphone "discoverable." But beyond that there is no option on the cellphone for connecting. The PDA on the other hand has a device setup wizard that I've been using.
I'd like to be able to dial from my TX contact list. There is an SMS option and a dialer on the PDA as well and if they worked that would be a bonus.
Am I missing something?

What carrier are you using? Some intentionally cripple features, especially those where they can obtain additional revenue.

I'm using Bell Mobility.
Found the "search" function on the cell phone - but still having no luck.

Hi Swashplate
Well it might be possible that the Devices using different Bluetooth Standards.... maybe the T|X uses 1.1 but the Phone uses 1.2
That might be an interesting Point

Here is how my stuff works. My phone, Samsung t-809 communicates with my headset 1.2 BT. My phone communicates with my PC, 1.1 BT Dongle so the TX can communicate with the PC also. My phone and TX pair up just fine. My TX will not find my headset. From this I have assumed the phone is backward compatable with BT 1.1 but, the headset is not.

1.2 is backward compatible with 1.1, so the problem has to be another one.
Try the old way. Go to Prefs/Connection and create a New connection, choose Bluetooth and it should start searching for your phone which must have BT on. You should be able to pair them. Then go to Network and create a New Network using the Connection previously created. You may need details from your carrier such as User, Pass and a script to enter in the Details section.

From the manual;
• Headset: The remote Bluetooth headset enables outgoing and
incoming calls.
• Handsfree: The remote Bluetooth car kit enables outgoing and
incoming calls.
• File transfer: The remote Bluetooth device enables users to
transfer files from their handset to others.
• Object push: The remote Bluetooth device enables the transfer
of personal data (e.g. vCard, vCalendar, etc.) to other devices.
• Dial up networking: The remote Bluetooth device enables
Internet access through a phone modem.
• Serial port: The remote Bluetooth device acts as a virtual serial
port.
Choose File Transfer to move files.
Choose Dial up if you want the TX to dial your phone.

Hi There
Is it possible that the Palm TX doesn't Support Bluetooth Headsets...????

You may try Softick's Audio Gateway (software). It adds the Audio Profile to your Palm letting you even listen to music with stereo Bluetooth headphones.

Well still no luck.
What I'm trying to do is connect my TX to my Samsung a920 via bluetooth so that I can do SMS and dialing from my PDA. They both have a bluetooth antenna.
I think I'm learning something about making bluetooth connections in stumbling around this thread then applying that knowledge. As I said - it's stumbling. I truly am just haphazardly getting this done.
The latest iteration is that I've begun to set up a dial-up LAN so that now the TX attempts to connect to the Cell Phone and I get a message on the cell saying that it is connected as a "data modem." The message does not go away. The PDA attempts to connect twice and then a time out message appears on the PDA saying that no connection can be made. Am I simply missing a proper script on my PDA?
There is no listing for any Samsung phones on the Palm TX Bluetooth "setup devices - phone setup" wizard. Not even on the updater from Palm
My local Bell store has not provided the answer.
I think the easiest way to do this would be if someone has had some success here and could talk me through it step by step.
Like I said before - I can't imagine that Palm has entirely turned it's back on Samsung. But you never know. I didn't think this would be so hard!!!

I think I've figured out that the carrier (Bell Mobility) has "crippled" the cell phone so that it only connects via bluetooth to headsets.
A very handy feature and one that I'm less than happy with since I told my salesman that I intended to hook up my PDA to the cellphone via bluetooth!

I found out most of how to do it through the Sprintusers.com site. The problem isn't the carrier (or at least that I can tell), it's that the palm looks for the standard that isn't CDMA. At least that is what I can tell.
I love my Samsung though I am frustrated with some of the restrictions put on it.
I ended up trying to pair and never went through the wizard. If you tell the phone to discover bluetooth devices, it will find the palm (or should). After that I just put them in the trusted device list and it seems to work.
I was able to successfully use it as a modem for the palm, but have ended up not doing that anymore because Sprint has figured that out apparently.
Let me know if you need more details

The two devices seem to see each other and will go into the trusted devices lists on both but I can't connect them in the end.
I'll have a look at the sprint site, maybe that will have something.
Thanks.

Well everyone, I've given in. I can't figure a way around it.
When I called Bell, they just said that they could only connect another Bell product. In this case, a PDA.
The Sprint site was not an option as I don't have a number from them and need it to get on.
I guess, I'll have to be happy with my Bluetooth Headset working and keep this experience in mind in 3 years when my Bell contract expires.
You know, you learn something every day!
Thanks for the help.

I am considering buying a TX - actualy of trading in my LifeDrive for one. Does anyone know if there is any way to get thje Bluetooth on a TX to interface with ANY Verizon phone for dialling?

Swashplate, did you try sprintusers.com? If they didn't have what you needed because you are on Bell, maybe howardforums has some information specifically on Bell
go to http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=7819415#post7819415
I believe this is the pertinent thread. If it isn't, simply type
a920 + palm tx + bell site:www.howardforums.com into google and it should be able to get you more information.

well, I have samsung E720 and I have sucess to call from TX when I select SonyEricsson T68i as a mobile. SMS sending is working but TX report as not send (or error)

I have Verizon and am able to dial from my contacts fine. It took a little searching on howardforums.com to find the right settings for the Motorola E820.

I also am having problems connecting my LG UV8100 to my TX. The phone says it has paired with the TX, but the TX is not connecting with the phone. Palm has told me that with the newer phones there are no drivers yet, but sometimes an older model phones drivers will work. So far that hasn't worked for me and I told them so. They told me to connect via WiFi to my phone and I can't get that to work either. It is very frustrating. I contacted Verizon by email and they haven't even gotten back to me!
So there you have it....anyone have any better ideas, let me know.

Well, Swashplate, I'm in the EXACT same boat as you. If you've figured it out yet, please post back!
I have an mm a920
I'm on Bell in Western Canada
I have a Palm Zire 72 (same bluetooth as you, I'm sure)
I cannot pair, though hard, hard, hard, I've tried.
I got it to ALMOST work by going the old-school way as described above, but I can't seem to get it rolling. Please help!
I tried setting it up but it seems that no matter what point i get to it tells me that there are no phone drivers set up. I tried modem, phone, whatever... feed me the secret missing link..please!

I just spent myself almost the whole week trying to figure it out and it worked. I got MSL from a920 (Bell Mobility), and I can see the file system. Send me a message and I will show you how to do it.

My main problem now is to enable GPS on this phone so I can use TeleNav or Garmin with Bell mobility, it seems like Bell disabled this option. Whenever I try to start Garmin or Telenav it just quits. Can anyone help me?

I have been able to connect the A920 to my palm TX by using the bluetooth option in the tools menu on the phone, You have the option to search for devices on the phone and then when you pair them you can enter the pass phrase. After that i havn't had the time to get a internet connection setup but the phone will dial the number for dial up but it won't connect.

i have a Palm T|X and a Samsung A920 with Bell Mobility.
no luck getting the palm to make my A920 dial, or send SMS, or internet
i read it is because palm won't allow this because if they did it would hurt treo sales
palm wants to move away from handheld pda's
Palm T|X2 is just a rumor
No matter where and how you buy a Palm PDA, it is always the same device with the same capabilities. Palm does not disable dialing, SMS, or internet access on its devices. It's mobile operators that modify and cripple their devices' firmware (worst one is Vodafone). Therefore, if you do need these capabilities, you should always buy your phone from a retailer and not a mobile operator. Some operators offer cheaper contracts to people who already have a phone.

I have done it, it is possible. I am on the Bell Network in Western Canada (Calgary) and I can use my Samsung A920 as a bluetooth modem for my Palm TX. I can get internet access, but I am still not able to send SMS or dial the phone from the palm. Here is how I got the internet access to work.
Pair your devices. This can require some fiddeling, but I noticed people are able to get that to work. Once you have done that, do the following:
Go to your bluetooth settings.
on the network service drop down menu, choose "Edit Network Servi.."
Label the service "Phone" or whatever you want
DO NOT enter a user name or password.
select your phone from the connection dropdown (if it's paired this should work)
in the "Phone:" field, enter *99***1#
tap connect
Your phone will say "connected as data modem" to your palm, and your palm will say "connection established", and then Bell will rape you through the teeth for every little megabit of data you use browsing the web, etc.
If anyone knows how to get the SMS or dialer working, please add to this! I had to register and spend a good 20 mins typing this up for you guys so return the favor if you know!
Good luck and let me know if it turns out ok!
