I'm not sure what you mean by "update" - is this the internal AudioPlayer app?
If so, try to empty the /PALM/MSAUDIO folder on the card.

If you have a preferences editor like FileZ or SysInfo you might find some saved and/or unsaved preferences left behind by albumswap which are still messing with AudioPlayer. Or perhaps albumswap writes to the AudioPlayer preferences. In any case, you could try to find the preference files and delete them (Albumswap and AudioPlayer). The AudioPlayer preferences will be re-created when you successfully relaunch AudioPlayer. If this doesn't work, perhaps a hard-reset might do the trick?

before first launch of AlbumSwap, you need to delete the card's /PALM/MSAUDIO folder itself, not just empty it.

What? Umm, that is not true.
Delete the .m3u file (the playlist) in the /Palm/MSAUDIO/ folder
