Sounds like you want Palm Reader. You can get it at www.palmdigitalmedia.com I'm not sure if the free version allows you to rotate the screen but it does everything else you're looking for. You can get e-books from that site as well. For ebooks you might also try www.fictionwise.com http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/ebooks/ebooklist.html or http://www.gutenberg.net/ among others.

You might even look at a similar post in the Apps forum (from maybe a day or so ago). Or maybe a search of ClieSource.

CSpotRun will let you read eBooks sideways and upside down.
And it's FREE !!!!
You can download it from here:
http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=1779
It has lots of terrific features found in the best readers, and it is very small in size.
Also check out this thread on everyone's favorite eBook readers:

www.memoware.com is another great place to get e-books.

I have to agree CSpot Run is a great little reader but only on low res screens. It really looks poor on Hi Res screens.

Tiny Book Reader does everything except for screen rotation. I use it exclusively now.

Mobipocket is a nice reader as well. I think it scrolls a lot smoother than the others. That's why I use it.

or Palm\Launcher, but I think its best to put them in the books folder unless its standard palm doc files you want to share with other programs.
If you plan on buying books I would go with Palm Reader. If you are just going to do free public domain books you have a ton of choices. All of the above mentioned readers are pretty good.

Thx again guys. It would REALLY suck if palmreader couldn't get books from MS. That was really bugging me. Glad I got that off my chest. I'll try and remeber to search more *YellowRose*. ;)

Are there any eBook readers out there that smooth out fonts? Kind of like the way picsel viewer does word docs and pdfs?

Please read the "ebooks obsolesence" thread in this forum-- there's one mentioned there (sorry, but I've forgotten the name).
I downloaded it-- I'll be trying it sometime this week and posting my impressions on my journal (http://www.ee.ryerson.ca/~elf/sj33) .

Actually, I wasn't putting it there *specifically* for you (you got your answers before I butted in) . . . in addition to being a PDA Geek, I'm a nerd, and I love to read . . . I figure there MAY be somebody out there like me that loves to read too . . . maybe me posting the search helped him/her figure it out a little faster.
But there ARE a lot of good e-book threads. :D

The Vagrant's Library

User-submitted stuff -- not all of it necessarily legal. Can use their Doc-On-Demand converter to convert stuff that you find on the web. Interesting to see what pops up - it gets wiped and restarted periodically.

It does have smooth-scroll and your other features. And it's "free" if you don't mind being nagged to pay for it every once in a blue moon...Worth a try...

Palm Reader Pro has font smoothing. Not sure about the free version.

Been using the free Palm Reader for about three months now. It DOES have rotation orientation, it DOES have scrolling, and the screen invert (changing black text on a white background to white text on a black background) is great -especially since it won't disturb your "significant other" when he/she's sleeping :)

Thanks all, I'll definitely take a look at Palm Reader Pro and Deep Reader... from what I've seen of these two though is that they support different formats and that there're actually several formats out there. So do most people have two or more apps? or is there one app that does it all?

I just have one. Palmreader seems like the best deal from what everyone has said here. It does everything I want in a reader, except Hi-Res+, and Hi-Res+ sideways reading. Or does the pro vesion do that?

I have Palm Reader Pro, Mobipocket Pro, and Handstory.
I use Palm Reader Pro 95% of the time for reading ebooks. Handstory is for clips mostly and Mobipocket Pro is for the occasional book I want to read thats only in that format.

yeah, i prefer palm reader pro too. Deepreader is slick but it takes too much space plus less features compared to the latter.
