So now Silverscreen releases new software to make themes easily for Silverscreen. Very cool. But, what's the deal with charging for them? I mean, $1 isn't much, but it adds up. And, should you be allowed to charge for ripping other people off? Does the author of these new themes pay a royalty to the Sponge Bob people or the Felix the Cat people? I'm sorry, this is simply WRONG!!!!
Shame on Palmgear for allowing the sale of rip offs like this. If I ever get the time to put together some themes (hopefully this summer), I guarantee they will be free because I will probably scan in images from other sources.
Am I wrong here?

Theme's should be free. Most of the artwork is copy, resize and past of someone else's work. Mythofactory is about the only one I have seen with original work that charges for his skins. I refuse to pay for skins myself but Mytho has skins that are worth the money. I have never thought of charging for a skin but I see more and more people trying to sell them on PalmGear. If these people want to setup a donation site thats fine. But if you go to www.wincustomize.com and look at all the work there for free. Then look at the work in a small little launcher app for a palm. How could you charge for what you are doing? I am the first one to ever start skinning ZLauncher and I have helped many along the way, but I have never charged for that. Festus440 builds custom skin maker's for alot of software but gives it away for free. For the most part I think it is a cheap way to try and rip people off. Myself I am proud to see a screenshot that someone has posted and it has one of my theme's in it. Thats all I need.

I tried out the Felix The Cat theme the other day. Heck, I like Felix. Who doesn't, right? It immediately soft reset my T615.
After it came back from the crash, I deleted the theme. Guess what? It was still there, without the icons. I had to play with it for a few seconds to actually get rid of it. That kind of trash I *do not* need on my pda.

So now, not only are these people ripping off other people's work, but they are putting out a defective product? I wonder how many $1 sales they get. Seriously, do not support this stuff. You're better off putting a dollar bill in an envelope and mailing it to some anonymous person. I don't see the difference, especially if you aren't even getting a working product back in return.

Well, just don't buy the ones that are 'ripoffs'. I'm sure, if they are copyrighted pictures, somebody will 'take care' of the issue soon enough.
Designs By Bert does have some beautiful SilverScreen themes for sale though. They ARE original.:)
