LD and Bike or Die

I am having trouble with Bike or Die. The game does not seem to recognize my left and right control presses. It works fine for up and down. Anyone else have this problem and know what to do?

After deleting the application and its preferences and reinstalling, I am now able to control the left and right using other buttons but I can still not get the left and right buttons functioning in the game.
