What the heck is going on! I stupidly converted from Netsacpe to using IE 6 full time and now I can't stay logged onto ClieSource. I logon, get welcomes, but at the next page load, I'm in guest / unregistered mode. Also I've lost indication of what forum postings are new or not -- there'll all marked as new.

I searched ClieSource and the Web for clues and have tried:
- Ensuring cookies are enebaled in my ClieSource profile
- Under IE Tools / Internet Options / Privacy have enabled the slightest privacy profile and explictly enabled all cookies - including setting a specific site entry to enable all ClieSource cookies.
- Shutting down Windows and IE after changing settings.
- I don't think my router or firewall is blocking cookies. I'd put that assumption under the often used umbrella of "it used to work before I switched to using MS [insert software name here]." As in, it worked when I was using Netscape.
- Other sites, like Yahoo! mail seem to remember session paramers from page load to page load.

I have Win 2000, IE 6. Any clues would be appreciated.

Thank you,
FrankG
P.S. If this posting shows me as logged on, it's because I've explicitly included my ID and PW in the posting window!

I think it has something to do with IE 6 or at least a build of it. I wrote a couple of sites that use cookies, and the only people that had problems with setting the cookies, were those that used IE 6. Not all the users of IE 6 had the problem, but all that had the problem were IE 6 users.

The funny thing is, that it had the cookies stored and at some point even does set the cookies, but in a routine I had to check if the cookie was set, would fail all the time with these, people. I walked them all through their settings and they were all set fine, but for the life of me I could not get them to work properly for these users. I just took the check out of the program and it works fine, unless they don't have cookies enabled, but since the check was not working, I can't just redirect them to the cookie setting page.

I would either go back to Netscape or try the latest version of Mozilla. That is what I use (of course I don't really like the IE interface), and very few sites fail with it, and they are all ones that assume IE is the only browser out there.

Good Luck

mmmm_beer,

Excellent idea to try Mozilla. I expected it to be no more than Netscape and in fact it seems to be the whole Navigator look and feel, which I like but it's much faster, which I really like.

And you're right, ClieSource cookies are working again.

Thank you,
Frank
