Golomo (I think that's how you spell it) made I post, if I can remember, that said you can use a 4GB card in Fat16 and still acccess all 4GB in Sony applications (he had screen shots as well). Can anyone tell me how/if I can do this? (on a Mac?). Do I just format in the Clie?

Assuming the Clie FAT16 driver supports the 64k cluster extension to FAT16, then in theory you just need to format it in WinNT or better to do it and it'll work.
Formatting in a Clie may also work, but personally I'm skeptical...
I may format one of my Memorysticks and force it to have 64k clusters just to see if it works, but I doubt it will since 64k clusters is generally a Microsoft-only thing...

I'm a novice, I have XP, but it automatically formats FAT32. How do you get it to do FAT16 and how do you force the cluster?

you have to format it in dos prompt (start->run->cmd).
need to use the /fs and 64kb sector size parameters.
tho work on clie, i had many issues with my psp and cybershot, so i return to fat32.
only the camera have no substitute, but i always have my 1.3mp nokia with me :D
edit: you may use partition magic for that matter (convert to fat).

How much space is taken when you format it to FAT and is it stable formatted at FAT? I know FAT32 is slower but I thought it was more efficient?

I'll stick with FAT32 for 4GB.

it was stable on the clie, but not on my psp (no recognize) and my camera (only 900mb avalible).
i reinstalled the fat32 driver and formatted my 4gb card to fat32 to use it for movies (tcpmp) docs, programs etc.
i use a 1gb fat16 ms with the clie audio player (+albumswap) for battery life and play in background.
