View Full Version : TG-50 / ICQ ver 2.1
Hi,
Hope to get my hands on a TG-50 when it hits the UK. Main use would be web surfing when away from home using bluetooth / GPRS via a Siemens S55 mobile phone.
I am also keen to use a reliable IM client and wonder if anyone has experience of using the new beta of ICQ for palm (http://www.icq.com/pda/). If so please could you let me know how it performs?
Thanks

I've never gotten it to work on OS5 (the emulator) Everytime I try to login, it resets or kicks me off, not long enough to load your buddy list or chat. You can try VeriChat though it supports AIM, Yahoo, MSN and ICQ (www.pdaapps.com (http://www.pdaapps.com))

Try Verichat. Not sure if the ICQ support is fully compliant.

I noticed just the other day that my ICQ account that I use everyday caused ICQ Beta 2.1 to give me a "Connection Failed". So I created a new account and tried that..
Works like a charm.. I'm wondering what is different from my old account to my new.

It did work well on my TG50 as well!!!
Thanks everyone for your feedback.
I like the look of Verichat as well but don't like the idea of subscribing to a service which could be cancelled at anytime without warning.

The service is just to let you remain online while your unit is turned off. This is just a service that forwards a SMS message to your cell phone when you get a message. I use Verichat without this feature. The app does not rely on this service, it is just an option. You will not lose access to your IM services if Verichat goes under or something. At least I don't believe.. correct me if I'm wrong. I know the app connects to proxy servers for the IM clients, but I don't know if these proxy servers are contained by each IM service or if they are contained by the people at Verichat.

I think you will find the proxy servers are operated by Verichat. It still looks like a good service if ICQ isn't good enough.
