It might be too early to decide, but some people know whether they want to upgrade to and what they want already. I am very happy with my t665c and I will keep it until something good with OS 6 happens.

I'm looking for a backup PDA for my NX. I love the SJ form factor, but I gave mine to my wife. I need something inexpensive so it won't hurt too much if I damage it at work. MP3 is a must. The SJ33 fits the bill, but I might wait to see what comes out next. I figure by the time I get home from work, Sony will announce another Clié.

I just bought an SJ30 and I'm actually quite happy about the SJ33 (read: it does not have any feature to make me go "aarrrghh, why did I just buy an SJ30?!"). I don't really care about MP3 playback, plus I much prefer a silver finish to a black one.
Until a truly innovative and affordable product comes out, I'm sticking with my SJ30.

I'm extremely happy with my SJ30. I really like the size and colour of the case. Looks neat and clean and fits nicely in the hand and pocket. I think the SJ33 looks like some kind of game boy and if I wanted MP3 I would have bought a T series. What's wrong with the buttons on the SJ30? I like them and I haven't heard of any complaints. I think Sony may be going down the wrong path on this one. I'm sure everyone is aware how fast that clear plastic cover is going to get scratched. Nope, I'll keep my SJ30 thanks.

Ricon,
Do people complain about the SJ30 buttons? How dare them. They are awesome. I used to have the SJ30 but now a T665 and the buttons suck on the T665. Still usable though.
And no, I will not get the SJ33.

will stick to my SJ30 until the next clie with the form factor of SJ30 with built-in wi-fi comes along. don't care much for mp3, my muvo is good enough.

If you want an SJ33 right now get the PEGA-SA10 audio adapter.
I believe that replacement SJ33 is just some cosmetic changes from the SJ30 + polyphonic speakers? + MP3.
I would buy it if it has at least a 66mhz processor and a good battery life. A redesign of the stylus would be a plus.

I've received my SJ30 yesterday and I must say that the up/down rocker is much harder to press in for UP than for DOWN.
Except if you have fingernails, probably.
Oh well, couldn't pay the SJ33 or memorysticks anywayz. :)

No, I definitely will not be getting an SJ-33. Especially if it only has Palm OS 4.1. I'm waiting for device in the SJ form factor with OS5, Voice Recorder, and easy to acces user replaceable battery. Those are things I want most in my next Clie and I hope Sony will release something with those features.

Oh btw, I think that the attached flip lid on the SJ33 is just annoying. You can't detach it from the device, I believe...

If the SJ-33 had a faster processor or virtual grafitti, I might consider it. But just for better sound and MP3? I don't think so. For the $300 I can buy a 5GB iPod for MP3s.
I think I'll wait for the T665 replacement.

I have never owned any palm device before, I'll strongly consider this one. I guess all I really need is an SJ-30, the MP3 feature of the 33 doesn't appeal to me. The very good battery life and small form factor on these models is critical for me.

No, but only because I have an NR70 as well as my SJ30, so I don't need mp3 capability.
probably yes. i got the sl10 so far and am thinking in replace it with a coloured screen model. if the sj33 has got the audio ability onboard its a nice to have. better than the external upgrade because its need of extra space. i am not thinking about listen to mp3 - its more that i think about watching small videoclips.

Voted no, but disagree with No's tag line (about no OS5 being a joke). Not all of us embrace the uber-PDA concept that allows you to brush your teeth and access your dental records via BlueTooth at the same time. I'm in the group that thinks the multimedia and wireless aspects for a PDA are somewhat silly and frivolous, but I recognize that others embrace these "enhancements." The only enhancements I'd like are brighter/bigger screen and longer battery life.
If you use your PDA as a PIM and doc reader, all the rest is a useless drain on the precious battery juices...
Cheers,
Gary

Dude... I'm the only one who vote yes !!! :D
heheh..
Well... I kinda regret it that I just bought SJ30 last December.
Anyway... I like SJ33, so I will buy it when it comes out.
I'll give my SJ30 to my girlfriends hehehe...

Sorry for stupid question, but when might these be available for purchase in the USA? Any wild guesses? I assume the release date given is for Japan only? I have never owned a PDA and would like to get this one ASAP.
If anyone could recommend a portable keyboard that would be great too. :)

From another thread I found out it will be available in the USA Feb 28th.
Hopefully I am not perpetuating bad info.

I am definitely interested in getting one!!!!!!!! It has a 66MHz processor, enhanced audio, mp3 and improved buttons. I hate a Built in Flip cover but I currently have a Treo which has a removeable flip cover and I never take it off. It is mostly bad in theory only, in use it is practical.

Well, I'm certainly considering it. They've addressed the biggest problem I had with the SJ30 (quiet speaker). It's nice that the headphone output is on top, so the jog dial isn't too far down like it was on the N-760.
I'm still using an N610. The 33's not much bigger or heavier, and will have a nice boost in screen, memory & speed. I wouldn't mind being able to play a few MP3s once in a while. And I certainly am looking forward to playing remote control games.
I wouldn't even consider a T-615 or the T-665. The buttons on them suck (in my opinion).
Anybody know whether the ROM is still the type that you can't use with JackSprat?

When I know when it will be in the UK, I will be getting one as my first Palm. I've been debating getting an SJ30 since Christmas, when I got my mum a Zire. Now I've seen the Sony hk site for the SJ33, I'm holding on.
So if it's out on February 28th in the USA, will the UK get it then too?

i'm definitely getting one. in fact, it's one of the reasons i returned my sj30. it's got everything i was looking for, and i actually quite like the form factor.
plastic lid means i don't need to buy a case. long battery beats t665. 66mhz beats sj30. and it doesn't look like a business box, like most all pda's do.

It's now available for pre-order at Amazon (available Feb. 28)

I just crushed my SJ20 screen when I bailed on my skateboard, I'm gonna need something new. This unit is really nice, I'd like to be able to find it discounted though.

I know, that sucked. I was just messing around for a bit, forgot my CLIE was in my pocket. Plus, when I fell my CLIE gave me a pretty bad charley horse!
OH well, now I can buy a new color one! ;)

Add OS5 to the SJ33, along with the features it supports and I would get one.
