I've just downloaded the trail version on my Palm TX, but it seems that when I wat to "Read the whole story" I can't? Why? I get the headlines an about a quarterof the article, that's it. And when I try "Open link" my TX looks for an bluethooth or wi-Fi connect, which I don't got, and that's it. So I'm thinking that it's made for treo's? So any thoughts on that?

I think it depends on the rss feed. Some feeds do not give you the whole article thus encouraging you to go to the website instead.

Agreed. I personally use Plucker with Sunrise XP, so I can set how many links are captured on my laptop, and can save URLs which I haven't captured on to my Treo for viewing on my laptop later.
Yeah, it's not really "god" for anything, but a nice convenience for reading on transit. :D
there are many feeds (such as engadget for example) that contain a lot of info, not just the one-line taster and a link to the rest. It may not be for everyone, but I use it quite a lot!!

I like Quick News as well. I have customized it to download my podcasts and filtered out the snip-it feeds I don't like.

I do like QN and have found that really only look at the headlines of many of the news items that I look at. However, it is frustrating when you hit one that you want to see in depth and then have track it down.

Well here is an example:
-It is morning. You have to hurry up to school, work or etc. You need to download latest news during your morning business without wasting any time to browsing on the internet.
-So it isn't hard find example use for that app. But my point is that i wouldn't say that QN is totally poor software but it isn't definitely so important in general. Anyway i prefer also more just netfront than rrs viewers. Headlines doesn't usually tell what they should be telling even they try take care the inside of headline content.

Tough group.
Personally, if you are on a device that will not be online all the time but want to have news, QuickNEws, or any RSS program for that matter, is a good call. Granted, some RSS feeds dont show the whole article, but for those that do you are in the know.
I personally use QN and enjoy it a lot. Basically, it has become my Treo's morning paper. And becasue of QN, I dont spend as much time reading online lest its a feed that sent me to a page that will have a link to a site that I dont already get feeds to.

Another opinion: I use and very much enjoy QuickNews. At present, I subscribe to about 75 feeds of all kinds: news, politics, games and technology, entertainment, philosophy of mind, cognitive and neuroscience blogs, etc. I very much enjoy having all of this info at my fingertips, ready for perusal, whenever I have a few spare minutes.
As has been noted, not all sites provide a full article. However, many do. This is especially the case for the dozens of blogs I frequent. Additionally, I can automatically download daily or weekly podcasts from several radio shows I listen to. Again, it's nice to have this information in one place when I'm ready to look at and/or listen to it.
If you're not a frequent RSS reader to begin with, QuickNews probably isn't going to be your thing. For those of us who do a lot of feed reading, however, QuickNews is an excellent program. It enables me to grab headlines/story summaries from dozens of news outlets and get a sense of what's going on in the world. I can then pursue the particular stories that I'm interested in following up. And the many blogs that I frequent offer tons of content for me to work through each day. Finally, the software itself is pretty solid. The developer takes an active role in his forums, offering help. At $15, it strikes me as being a very good deal--again, if RSS feeds are something you use often.

I love this news reader. Most of the feeds I get give quite a bit of info in the reader and its easy to click and go to Blazer for the rest of the story. The best part is podcasting. I can update podcasts directly to the device and that is worth the price of the program alone.

I have used Qn for a long while now, and find myself deleting more and more feeds from it, mainly because it continues to screw them up. The only feeds I have now are four podcasts, and even those don't update/download very well. Overall I think it is a great program with significant reliability issues.

Odd....what version are you using (currently it is 1.24 with 1.25 in beta!) and what device?. I havent had any reliability issues with any version, even the beta's!!

Have you posted your issues in the QuickNews forum? When I first started using QN, I initially had a problem with the app on my TX that the developer eventually helped me work out. Since then, I've found the latest version (1.24) to be very stable, automatically updating about 75 feeds (including several podcasts) each morning.

@ Sos and no_basho:
Yes and yes. I have always used the most current available (including betas) and have posted several times (and still read) their forums. I am not saying it is unstable and I'm not saying the developers aren't great--they are. I just find that its UI isn't very intuitive and it will quite often simply not do what it is supposed to do. I use it now to dl four podcasts, and it does the job about 60% of the time.

I have no issues with the current 1.25 beta. I've been using it for weeks and have 30 or so feeds on it. There is one podcast I found (Onion Radio News) that didn't work right though.
