View Full Version : Bellagio Case vs. Brando PDAIR?

I know the Bellagio case it decently popular around here and the PDAIR not so much, but these are pretty much the only two cases i can see on the web site and can visiually be guaranteed that they will protect my NX70 well in tablet mode. I want the one that adds the least bulk, which i think is the PDAIR, but it opens from the bottom. Do any of you guys have any experience w/ cases that open up from the bottom, it seems like it would be more annoying, is it? ANd i want the the flip styles, not book styles, can anyone give me any feedback on these, and YES! i've checked the other threads, so if you don't have any response, please don't point me to another thread, just don't respond with anything.

Thanks everyone!

The PDAIR one has a strip of leather which slips in a loop to secure the closing of the case. When i saw that it put me off buying the case as the megnetic ones are so much faster.

yeah, i noticed that too... but if someone can tell me that it is deffinately thinner, i would probably jump on it...i dunno the bellagio just seems really fat and bloated.

Always remember the fat and bloating will protect the clie. That's why I bought the Bellagio. It does not seem to add that much girth to me.

I suppose you cannot have the best of both worlds... Thin but have good protection. Sigh we just cant win. :(

I gotta agree with the crowd on Bellagio.

Great quality leather, great protection, great price.

Oh yeah...great delivery

Initially, I chose a leather casing over hard metal casing because usually, with leather casing, there are extra compartments for you MS and other cards. I think that it is important to carry (at least) my Backup MS wherever I go in case a hard reset is required. So, I bought the Bookcover-style PDAir Leather casing. What happened was my NX had become so thick and bulky I can no longer carry it in my pants' pocket. So, after looking at the Inno-pocket metal casing, I decided to go for it. And for the MS issue, I bought a metal MS Case by Glossa and stick it on the front cover with double-sided tapes. And now, my NX has become carryable in the pocket again, and I can also carry 5 MS at a time (one in the MS slot, and 4 extras in the MS metal case). I think it is much better now, and I don't think I'll go back to my Leather casing.

Just my 2 cents.

Tek,

I have both both cases and are my two most regularly used cases ...

Apart from the obvious advantages of each, your question references the bulk ...

Both a bit bulky, but the Bellagio case is less bulkier than the PDAAir case by a considerable margin, so go for that one ... :)

I use the bellagio case almost exclusively. I have NO problem slipping the bellagio encased clie into my suit coat pocket or pants pocket. However, it wont fit well into my dress shirt pocket (as an uncased clie will).

Anybody have strong feelings on the Bellagio Slipper versus Book models? What are the pros/cons? Thanks

I use the Targus Universal Belt case, ( I couldn't find the Sony Case anywhere. I have experience with "wallet cases" and "hard cases, and none protected so much the handeld devices like the hard leather belt cases. Any comments?

Tek, Tried to PM you, but it said too many chars, so here is my reply ...

Well, the PDAAir case is a lovely book/side-open case ... They also include this foldover that protects the clie in tablet mode on one side and has a clear-open pocket for credit cards, stamps etc.

This 'foldover' is so good I bought two PDAAir cases, took foldover out of one & stuck it to the inside of the Bellagio case. Now I have the convenience of a flipover case with the protection of the PDDAir case.In addition,I've had to modify the Bellagio case by increasing the hole at the top so I can flip the case over with the WiFi card in it (b4, I had to take the WiFi card out).

The Bellagio case has served me the best for these reasons :

1. I can hotsync without taking the Clie out - MAJOR ADVANTAGE

2. I have dropped my Clie 2 times onto hard concrete & the Bellagio case has protected it very well-not a scratch in site

3. By replacing the credit card holder that came with the Bellagio case originally with the foldover that came with the PDAAir case, it has increased the protection a lot more.Having said that, the Bellagio case is already well constructed with foam inserts etc.

4. The 2 memory stick slots & wifi card slot protect the respective cards very well & do not intefere with the screen in tablet mode (remember I have the foldover to protect it).The Bellagio case comes with x4 credit card foldover which is adequate, but the PDAAir foldover case is superior.

One point is that the Bellagio case is a very snug fit in the first place, so when you first get it, it might feel that it won't fit.Rest assured, over a couple of weeks of use, the leather will wear in and it all works comfortably.I am the kind of guy who will buy every type of case and modify each one to get the best out of it ... occasionally this means cutting off a part of one case to add to another, but that's me :)

In my estimation, I would recommend the Bellagio for you.I only use the PDAAir case when I'm on business flights, but for everyday use, the Bellagio wins hands down. No other case comes close, & from me, that's saying something :)

Thanks a lot...

I was looking at getting the Digital Express case, but after reading this thread I'm now considering the Bellagio case.

Thanks a lot for your reply man... But what about the PDAIR flip case. Top opening one... Is your Bellagio the book opening one or the flip top one. I think the PDAIR flip top one might be superior to the Bellagio flip top one because of size issues and what not... i dunno, have you tried the flip top/top opening one or know anyone else who has...or has anyone else tried it. THanks a lot for your replies!

Sorry, I don't have the flip-top PDAAir or the sideopen Bellagio -- I guess they both didn't seem to do it for me from the pics ... The sideopen PDAAir and the fliptop Bellagio are the ones I have :)

I don't know, i guess i've heard so many comments about how the bellagio flip top is way too thick. I thought the PDAIR would be a good comprise even though it can't hotsync and it opens from the bottom, and doesn't have the magnetic closure. But it's thinner, has a better screen protector and looks more attractive to me... DOES ANYONE OWN THE PDAIR FLIP TOP CASE???

Which Bellagio case to choose... book or flip? Anyone have any suggestions? I don't care about not being able to HotSync in case. I plan on modifying/building my own cradle to allow this.

I've had the Bellagio case for almost 2 weeks and it is a great case. Fits well, protects my clie and arrived before the said it would.

Does anyone have any experience with the Vaja iVolution Case for the NX? does it make it bulkier than it is? won't it break where the CF + camera cut-outs are?

For the price of a Vaja (which is a nice case), you can buy 2 Bellagio's AND a PDAAir :)

You might also want to check covertec.com. I purchased my NX70 case from covertec. Very pleased.

I have an innopocket and now have to carry a Memory Stick now that I use the MS Pro since after a hard reset the MS Pro will not be recognized due to their updates being in ROM. Here I holders that I am thinking about getting and they sound like yours.

I was looking at the InnoPocket pictures on their website and noticed: There's no hole for the resest switch. Do you have to take it out everytime you need to perform a soft reset?

That would blow.

Yep. Most of my resets occur at home anyways or when I'm actually installing and playing with new apps. I don't keep it in the case around the house or when playing with it as it needs to be out of the case to hotsync. Also I do not play with new apps while traveling around so it is not much of an issue.

I just bought a Sena flip top (looks alot like the PDAIR in style except it snaps).  I needed a good looking case with a belt clip.  So far I like it real well.  It's made of sturdy leather (with some padding on the top) and it arrived in two days.   Downside is the leather is too thick to fit in the cradle, but I mostly use a travel cable so that really doesn't bother me.

I ended up getting the bellagio. It arrives on tuesday, so says fed ex. I believe it's the best combination of everything: protection, magnetic closure, storage, protection for tablet mode, and can sync in the case. These were all the features i wanted in a case, i just didn't want to sacrifice for bulk... well, i figured out that i have to, unfortunately no other case can do these things, so i have no choice but the bellagio, but i'm looking forward to the case, i think it's gonna serve me well!

Looks like this card holder is going to work. Only thing is that the hinge is on the back corner so you have to glue it's top near the edge of the case so that you can open it enough to get the MS out.
