I have a 710 upgraded to OS 4.1. I have applied the SilkscreenYose patch from Sony. Initially it all worked fine but now I cannot bring up the "a" keyboard or the brightness control. I have tried soft and hard resets, reloaded the patch to no avail.

Any other ideas? Should I reflash the ROM?

Thanks

The N760C has a poor history of screen recognition and accuracy, use CORRECTOR or the full version and you will discover a new CLIE 760!!

I found it here: http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=86EBCB6B-9C9C-48C2-BD9882942D1017D5&prodID=5085

I tried the program and it seemed to work initially so I purchased the full version so I could calibrate the graffitti area etc. After the first installation, even though the trial version doesn't do anything in the graffitti area I was finally able to bring up the brightness control.

However after following the instructions to press A0 A1 etc. that are in the full version, and completing that, I found I had an unusable machine in that pressing an icon on the screen would startup a different program!

Only way out was to delete the programs and reset.

My main problem is the graffitti area and soft buttons - not the main screen. At present with just the trial loaded I can bring the keyboard up by pressing about 2mm to the right of the "a" and this doesn't always work. The "1" works fine. I have loaded the silkscreen patch many times. I cannot bring up the brightness control

Have you considered reloading the original OS 3.5.2. Just to see how the pda responds. I would consider that mabye your digitizer has gone bad and just might need to be replaced. You can get a replacement here http://www.gethightech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SO1010&Category_Code=DIG and the info for taking the pda apart here http://www.geocities.com/jhc19104/710C/Disassembly.htm

I think I will replace the screen but I am not game to do it myself so will probably use

http://www.pdaspecialists.com/ccp5/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi

It's only(!) $89 but they use the same glass as Sony

Here is another place that you go.

http://www.palmpilotupgrade.com/prices.html

It's only $69 for the repair and they have a $32mb upgrade option instead of a 16mb one.

Their might be a slight discount if you ask since they only have to open the pda once to replace the digitizer and upgrade the memory.
