Powers on by itself; screen black with alarms

Sometimes my new NX70V/U turns on spontaneously (sitting on desk, untouched, not on hold, no alarm set). The power button light is green, but the screen remains BLACK. Does anyone else experience this? :confused:

Sometimes when an alarm goes off, the Clie works normally, but other times the screen remains BLACK. It remains so for a few seconds after the alarm is over (which can be a looong wait), then the screen appears. I can get the screen to appear before the end of an alarm by hitting the back button, however. Tapping the screen does nothing. This can be rather annoying! :mad:

In both cases, the Clie is fully charged. I have 2.9 M free space out of 11 M (what ever happened to the 16 M of memory it was supposed to have:confused: ).

I hope someone out there can help.

P.S. Does anyone know what the /U at the end of the model number signifies?

oh yeah, I had this happen a month or two ago. I never pinpointed it but i'm pretty sure it had something to do with megaclock alarm function. Others have had similar strange charging/paranormal behaviors as well. I am serious about the on/off thing. I think the charging system, though complex, is a little flaky at times. I removed megaclock, and let the unit charge overnight and the problem never reoccurred.

I experience the same black screen with alarms. I do not have megaclock installed though.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks for all your input. I started having new problems (clie wouldn't turn on without a soft reset). I did contact Sony, and because it was still within 14 days of purchase, they are sending me a new unit. I'm greatly relieved!
