View Full Version : Stylus, Brushed metal look?

I've seen loads of "hacks" where people scrub down the backs of their ipods to give that brushed metal look, to hide the scratches.

Can the same be done with the T|X stylus?

Mines getting on my nerves, and the dirty copper orange look isn't working for me.

ps. I realise that it might mean the stylus ends up copper colored completely.

What a polite answer from a "developer"...

Sandpaper will leave marks, scratches. Youīll get a copper like color. I remember that the paint on the m500s stylus also tended to go but you could use the nail and get it bronze.

If you are going to take the metal paint, you better use a solvent, so youīll get a better result.

Perhaps you can buy for cheap a 3 pack replacement. They should not be too expensive on eBay. :) I bought the stylus/pen combination and I am quite happy with it.

Iīve seen that mr grinberg deleted his "polite" answer... Too bad I didnīt copy it to let you know how he answered Veritech. He told him "are you asking for help? go get sandpaper!" And he is still worshipped here... Oh God! :(

I got the exact text via email, thanks to auto notification :)

Dmitry gets like that sometimes, it's hard when your smarter than most people, and know the answers to life and other assorted information(ie. speed of light in snail years, how many potatoes can fit in the USS enterprise etc.), and you get "dumb" people like myself asking simple questions.

But seriously Dmitry ur forgiven, no need to delete the comment.

Anyways i asked, cause i realized that it's copper underneath, so sandpaper might be a little dumb, however i do have some fine (p1200 i believe) sandpaper on my desk next to my palm...

@ Greek

I like the idea of a copper stylus, is there a particular kind of solvent do i need, plus when i'm done can i just use some "brasso" or something polish-like to shine it to perfection?

I was thinking of those solvents used for metal painting. I donīt know exactly how are they called or brands as I donīt live in the US. "Thinner" is one called over here and itīs very used. Brasso will leave you then a nice polished finish I guess. :)

Just remember that the copper will tarnish with time; if you wanted to, you could buy a small pack of gold leaf, apply it, and then (after removing the plastic ends) coat the end result in an epoxy resin or eurathane/varathane finish. Then you'd have a gold stylus, and it wouldn't tarnish or wear off :)

Hi,
what about getting a third party replacement from somewhere?

ha ha, me spend money. I'm an extreme cheap skate

I just brought a SE k750i on ebay for Ģ85 i'm spending another Ģ15 to get a new plastic case, to replace the current one. When i could have brought a new k750 for Ģ120. So all that to save Ģ20. I don't like spending money when there is no reason too.

Anyways i gave it a quick sand, and it looks a little cleaner, if it goes south again i think i might try em's idea with the gold leaf.

I think a fine steel wool will do a nicer job than sandpaper.

a little off thread but how do you like the K750i? I've been thinking about getting one now that they've gotten reasonably cheap

Amazing, the photos are great quality for a phone, music player is good too, sadly the guy i got it from left out the headset :( Love it in every way, it's a lot quicker than my T-630, a little bit on the thick side for "new Tech", but very feature packed. Plus with the right firmware it can control your pc via bluetooth out of the box!, and can also be used as usb drive. After i threw the new case on it, it's just like new.
