I've got two T3's here, one made in 2003 and the other in 2004. Their bodies are nearly identical save for that "crease" in the back panel near the voice memo button.
Any other hardware changes? Do screws still fall off in the 2004 model? :D

same things here the one without the crease have a sony screen and the one with it have a sharp screen
but i dont not witch one is the oldest because i buy it used :D
and like the picture something i notice is one have a serial with a code bar and the others dont same things here one with and one without
Cool, never noticed that before....
It really must have something to do with the display, my Sony-T3 has the crease while my Sharp-T3 doesn't have it.

A thing I found on my E2376 is that the voice memo button is more recessed, making it hard to accidentally press. :)

I take a flathead screwdriver and pry it off. It scratches the inside a bit, but since the battery's going to be there anyways, who cares?

last time i did this, i had one battery less, a room full of smoke and a large melted spot on the carpet. do NOT use metallic sharp objects (screwdriver is sharp enough)

Hahaha. Dmitry. . . I thought you didn't kill PDAs? Doing batteries is awfully close!

I just jam in one of those clear plastic rulers and pry the battery off. Then transplant a cellphone li-ion cell. Viola, good as new...

no glue there, just double-sided sticky tape. just pull slowly. very slowly. if this is the first time you get this battery out, take then full 10 minutes to slowly pull it off

Another difference, the voltage step offset.

Yeah I noticed that too the samsung batteries seem to perform better. I've even got a 2002 T|T with samsung batt, life is still pretty good...
Anyway here's a good way to remove batt. Remove stylus clip first then:

unfortunetly the batt seem to be dead along with my T3 ( the old one) if someone have a trick to test is from out of the palm it will be appreciated, and while i was playing around in those Crack open T3 i notice another difference between the two version of case
Crease T3 Case :
Sharp screen
Samsung Batt (900Mhz)
Speaker(diaframe is cover with a 7 hole metal cover)
The quality of the bottom 2 screws is mutch better (the one under the slider)
No crease T3 Case :
sony screen
sanyo Batt (850Mhz)
Speakers is cover with a small sheet of transparent material with a oval shape hole on the upper part
the srews look cheap (textured white metal)

If batt is dead, charge it for a night and see if it works. I thought one of my Zire batts had died, but after 3 hours, it started up while I was playing GT4.

yes but the big questionning is that when i put the defect batt in the palm and on the craddle the light go on but no beep indicating is charging
so im kind of afraid to bust my Good T3 over a bad battery ?

Hi,
reminds me of a problem I had with NiMH bateries a long time ago. If the batteries are really deep discharged(aka ****ed), some charger IC's wont detect them anymore. The solution is simple: manually 'precharge' the cell.
This works like this:
1)Get lab supply
2)Set it to batterys voltage level
3)ENABLE CURRENT LIMITER to (capacity/10)*h
Attach plus of bench supply to plus of battery
Attach minus to minus
Let sit for some time
That always worked well for me so far, altough the other electronics guys definitely can help out more =)

if lithium cell is below 2.7 volts charging it is bad. below that voltage lithium crisstallizes inside, and shorts it. so charging it will cause an explosion. so if your lithium cell is below 2.7 volts, do not do this. say "goodbye" to it and get a new one

thanks all for the good tips but i forgot to do a critical step to revive it is to reset in cradle ! when i press reset the palm screen light up instandly and i leave it there till 00h00 i hope this one will keep the charge because my original one was very easy to discharge (exemple. after a full charges is i check my calender the batt drop to 80% i play mp3 for 15 minute it 50% but after 50% its seem like the batt discharge more slowly )

Not really. Decent li-ion chargers have a pre-conditioning phase that slowly brings it above 3.0 before commencing fast charge

if there already are crystals there nothing will fix it. at least all sources i found say so.

Right. When they're dead, nothing can bring them back...
But there might one trick left that saved me one time:
When I bought a brand new Qualcomm pdQ some months ago the Li-Ion-battery was dead (7 years without a charge), even the charger didn't recognize it. Since replacements are not available any more I was really pi***d :(
Someone in a germany palm-forum had this tip for me:
Put the battery in the freezer and let it freeze for a couple of hours. Then, take it out and put it in the charger (still "frozen"). If you're lucky, this will work and you battery will hold a charge. Worked for me, no explosion, no collateral damage :-) YMMV, so be careful.
