I'm new to the Treo, but have had a TX for over a year. For the TX, all I need to do is copy music files to a card, put in the card and it recognizes them, and plays the songs. Apparantly, PTunes acts differently on the Treo? Yesterday, I beamed two songs to the Treo from the TX. RealPlayer can see, and play mp3 files in internal memory, but PTunes can't. What do I need to do to use PTunes?

And...off topic...Treo doesn't see pics on SD card, but it does see them in internal memory. ?? Once again, I beamed these pics, or copied from PC to SD card. I didn't sync anything ever. Is that my problem? Thanks.

Card should have folders for pics and music; the first goes in DCIM and the second in Audio. You get these folders when you format the card using CardInfo.

Your RealPlayer tunes may have Real's DRM on them. Upgrade to Pocket Tunes Deluxe to play anything you downloaded that is of the "Plays for Sure" sort.

Card's formatted and the files are there. The TX sees and plays them just fine. My question is, "Why won't the Treo play them too?" Do I have to use PTunes ont he PC and sync? That's alot of trouble these days. Anybody know where to get free skins for RealPlayer?

RealPlayer has no extra features or skins. Have you entered the registration code for P-Tunes on your Treo and are you using P-Tunes Deluxe? If your .mp3s have Real's DRM on them, you must use P-Tunes Deluxe or find a way to strip the DRM.

If you've just purchased your Treo; all you need to do is go online and it will give you the upgrade code for this player to become a deluxe Ptunes player.

I'm not using PTunes Deluxe. But I also wasn't using Deluxe on the TX and it worked just fine with all of my music. I never encountered anything that required stripping DRM's (whatever that means). It just worked on the TX and it doesn't on the Treo. Yes, I entered the code that PTunes gives you, but it doesn't upgrade it to Deluxe. It does, however, give the ability to change skins, but the app remains Basic, not Deluxe.
I should add that I did NOT just purchase it. I recently got it from a friend who purchased a new one and I am tweeking to my liking. I beamed PTunes from my TX, along with a skin or two. It looks fine and acts fine, except it can't find my music files.

Duncan, because your Treo has built in internet capabilities and is part of your rom; it acts difirently on the Treo than on the TX. If you will start it up and go online with whatever service provider your Treo is with; and then start up Ptunes. It should take you to Normsofts' website and after that you will get a short message about your code being sent to your e-mail address. After that you should be good to go on playing your music.

DUDE!! I'm gonna try that RIGHT NOW! I'll let you know.

If you have the free version that came on your LifeDrive or T|X, then this is a free update. If you update, you will receive free bug fixes, and you will also be given a 15-day trial of Deluxe.

If you have the free version that came on your Treo 600, then this is NOT a free update. You can continue using the free version, or you can purchase an upgrade to 3.X.

I purchased the TX and got the FREE upgrade. That is the version I beamed to the Treo (version 3.1.5). This is the same version currently available as an upgrade. The only thing available for the Treo is a $24.95 Deluxe upgrade. My problem is that no songs show up at all on the Basic PTunes app, and they DID on the TX. ??

Hi Duncan, when I did this with my Treo. I was given a free upgrade to the current version of Ptunes deluxe and sent a new serial for the player. I did it all from my Treo. When I first recieved my Treo; I had the same problem with it not playing or recognizing any music on my card. It now works quite well. I also registered it with Palm.

It's just not doin' a thing, but asking me to spend $24.95 on the upgrade to Deluxe. I've checked the Treo's Palm OS version and it does NOT need to be upgraded, as per Palm's instructions. I've also emailed NormSoft. Don't know why it won't see my mp3 files. Should I have sync-installed instead of beamed it? Beaming didn't seem to fail on any other app that I transferred from TX to Treo, including ZLauncher, FileZ, Palmary Clock, Adobe Reader, and others. I'll use the free RealPlayer (yuk) if I have to, but I'd like to figure this one out. Thanks for all the input.

Duncan, it shouldn't make a difference wheather you beam or hotsync ptunes to your device. It still should give you a 15 day trail period for it to work as Ptunes deluxe and still play your music. E-mail Normsoft with your problem. If nothing is done by them I'll take the rest up in PMs to you.
