I have a tough issue. I've acquired a T2 that has been "stripped" of all is original programming and left with only a third party application on it. The third party (my employer) wishes for it to be used only for this application. I wish otherwise.
The problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to get it back to normal. I can't hot sync and a hard reset doesn't do the trick either. Somehow I did get other icons on the screen momentarily yesterday (I'm pretty sure I was trying to use IR to hot sync at the time) but it quickly returned to the single icon on the main page.
It's really beginning to frustrate me now. I'd really appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.

can you beam apps to it?

are they in a different category? have you tried using "filez" to see if you can see them on the palm, and see if they're hidden?

I think I can. I have tried sending files to it via IR and it always said "file received in unrecognized format". I don't know which files I should be sending. I'm really pretty new with this whole thing. (Note the user name).

to be honest I'd get in touch with the company and ask them...

Perhaps there's a launcher you need to exit? Or, did you try linking via BT and messing with files that way?

Thanks for all the ideas. The one that got me going in the right direction was the "filez" suggestion. I did manage to beam it over, but then it didn't just appear on the screen as I expected it to. They had changed every button function to cause it to just show you the single app (they also changed the hot sync button to do the same thing), when I was trying to find the "filez" program I had just beamed over, I changed one of the buttons to launch filez and one of them to launch applications. The mistake I had been making previously was hitting the home button to leave the setup screen. I still haven't figured out how to change the home button so it doesn't take me back the the single app mode (and reconfigures all the shortcut buttons to make them do the same). I just don't use the home button for now.

Be careful that your boss doesn't grab your handheld to check your productivity, to find unauthorized software on there. Probably grounds for instant termination.

Holding the middle button down should take you to the main screen.

ok, one more question. I did get the basic problem fixed, but anytime I run the application, it changes all the buttons from their defaults and reassigns them to only launch the application. It also will only display the single application on the screen. I go into the setup screen and can change all that back though. I also can't (or don't know how to) change then HOME button. It launches the application.
The biggest problem that I have now is that I bought I 2 GB SD card for the Tungsten and it doesn't recognize it. It always says there is no card present. I popped it in my video camera to make sure the card was good, and it seemed to work fine there.
Someone mentioned a launcher? I saw a file called "V launcher". could the device be programmed to ignore the card slot? If so, is there an easy way to re-enable it?
Thanks for all your help.

I thought 2GB cards didn't work in T2's? Only up to 1.5 GB I believe. Try a 1 GB card.

Thanks again everyone for the help. Some observant person realized that when I asked for help here and on another board that I mistakenly said I had a T2 here. I have an E2. Still the tips were great. (I think 1 GB is the limit on an E2?). Anyone want to buy a new 2 GB SD card?

I would but I have 5 already. :-/ How much you thinking? Or, we could trade a 1GB for a 2gb. :) In any case, yeah, E2's limit is 1GB also. I tried using my 2GB to read a book and then the card would not show up. :-/
