I actually just noticed the slot and have no idea what it is for. Does anyone have an idea.

Thanks,
John

For covers. Acts as a hinge anchor for flip covers.

^It does... but i find that the tip of the stylus does a better job !

I stuff mine with paper and then blow in the hole as hard as I can to see if can force the paper to go out the other end.

By the way, does anyone happen to know if there are any other 3rd party flip covers compatible with the tx ? Something transparent like the TH55 flip would interest me.

I think there would be a big aftermarket for flip covers if Palm were to standardize that "slot interface". I believe the Palm V was the first Palm to have a slot like interface for covers. And it had an identical slot on the opposite side for the stylus. Both were identical in dimension, and each would fit a stylus or a flipcover. Right handers could use the right side to keep the stylus and use a flip cover on the left side. And lefties could do the opposite. The idea was brilliant. Worked great for the stylus, and allowed you to completely remove the cover really quick. Unfortunately Palm didn't standardize on this.

Standardization is sorely lacking in the PDA field. Palm alone has a gazillion different styluses, and at least four different cradle interfaces. There used to be a time when you could walk into an electronics store and buy a stylus or a cradle. But currently there are so many different types, and the designs are likely to replaced soon, that many retailers simply don't bother stocking such things as styluses, cases, and cradles for the various models.

I would love to see a flip cover that can hold additional SD cards...

OT a little bit. What is the best way to keep multiple SD card around TX without using a hard case.

a bit of double sided tape on the back?

I wish SD cards have velcro built-in, then I just need to stick another part on the flip cover... ;)

Make a little 4-SD slot pouch and tape it to the back?

They do make cases that hold SD cards...

I purchased mine for roughly $20 and it has two slots for SD cards (I bought the black one from the site above)

a bit of double sided tape on the back?.

I just knew that with ten replies this thread had devolved into silliness.

I have found the slot is the best way to destroy third party flip covers and hard cases. The destruction of the hinges/holders forced me into using a bit of double sided tape to mount my TX in its not very indestructbile Rhino Skin hard case.
