Every day more dust creeps into the screen. Anyone else have this problem?

I am thinking of maybe openind my clie, taking the digitizer off, using canned air to wash the parts, and SEALING the two parts with a glue.

Oh No...I hope this isn't a widespread problem with the TG. :(

I've had mine for, what, over a month now? How time flies. I don't have any dust under my screen. I tried looking at the screen at several angles, with and without the backlight, and no dust. I carry it in my lint-y pockets, too.

This has been a problem that has plagued iPaqs and Tungstens, and I hope Sony is not adding itself to that list.

My concern is that the casing around the bottom of the keyboard is loose and can allow dust in. I've heard others complain of this defect (I think it was yoyo who first brought it up).

I think you should try to return it. Get another. Even if you are past your return date, act like you're disappointed (but not hostile) and sometimes the clerks at computer supply companies exchange without question. I just don't think this is a widespread problem, and I really think you were unlucky enough to get a defective unit. Taking it apart would only void the warranty. Good luck.

It comes through the stylus hole. I sprayed air in there lightly and the dust moved 2CM to the left.

Then you might want to get a new stylus :)

I used to have this problem with my old visor but not with my CLIE (SL10) and if I get the TG it better not be a problem.

Well, the screen is so bright I am sure the Gamma rays will break apart the dust soon...

I think he is pulling everyone's chain. I've never, ever, heard of dust problems with transflective displays.

I used to own an ipaq before i switched back to clie, as you have probably heard this problem was also appearing regularly in the ipaq screen. In this specific case, the dust was getting in thanx to the stylus hole as mentioned above.

Surfing around pages like pocketpcpassion.com (yes i know this is blasphemy hahaha) i found the only effective way to remove it as rudimentary as it may sound.

get a long hair like strand of whatever (i actually used hair) pull it in through the stylus hole and whith the screen totally lit up, move it to one of the edges, taht was easy and marvelously effective.

hope my stone age fix works. you dont loose anything by trying!

LOL!!

It was a patience testing process i must admit, but believeme, it was driving me sooooo crazy that i got patience out of that.

Its a long (not more than 20 min tough!! unless youre shaking or stuff like that hahaha) but effective process, your clie will thank you as will your sense of perfection (the same one that drove you to move a dust particle with a hair through the stylus hole in your palm -LOL-)

Good luck with that

Why wouldn't there be dust problems? Although the gap is considerably smaller on a transflective, there still is a significantly large one to get crammed with dust.

I think I will try that hair solution, but how the hell do I get it up into the screen?

whoa no dust on my TG50, and I thought it was riddled with problems!

Like someone else added, the perimeter of the TG50 is loose. I had to superglue the perimeter down twice. Also the plastic part on the back, where the hinge is, is loose and wobbly. The superglue I had couldn't hold it down so i'm using some scotch tape to tape the plastic part down.

My brand new 1 month old TG50, and I am using superglue and scotch tape to hold it together. I hate sony quality control!

If you notice the buttons, I suppose dust can get in through there as well, seeing as how the buttons don't fit completely flush (there is a bit of play)

Well I really hope this dust problem doesn't get big. I just bought my sister a TG50, I love my so much despite the minor annoyances. The first thing I did was superglue her outside gray perimeter down as well. :(

No. There is no dust visible when the unit has the backlight on.
