Hi,
I have 2 questions I need help on:

1. Is there a predictive text input program, such as WordLogic for PocketPC, for PalmOS? It would be nice to have one of those rather than having to type the whole word everytime.

2. I still cannot understand how the alarms work on my NX. It seems that I have a lot of programs with alarm functions, such as, Megaclock, Agendus, WorldMate, etc. However, I notice that these alarms only work when you are running the program. For example, when you set an alarm at a certain time on Megaclock, but when you switch to another program, the alarm is not activated when the time comes. Even when you want to switch off your NX, you need to turn off while the program is running to make sure it will wake you up in the morning. I really don't see any point in this alarm function. I think that Palm should have made available a function for the alarm to be running in the background as well. Well, may be I'm incorrect about this. Appreciate to have your advice.

Thanks.

Answer #1) I think the best Predictive Text program is TextPlus ($19.95), you can find it @ PalmGear (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=3EBFCB85-7AF6-40C6-870277C2C2A34F71&prodID=4037) or @ SmartCell (http://www.smartcell.com/id20.htm). I think is the best because it's very customizable and allows you to create/customize your own dictionaries in a very easy way (just double-tap on a word and select "Add Word"), it works with every other app and it has some nice extra-features (like digital ink, so you can see what you're writing). Other apps I tried are Ender (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=3EBFCB85-7AF6-40C6-870277C2C2A34F71&prodID=14633) ($15.00) or WordComplete (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=3EBFCB85-7AF6-40C6-870277C2C2A34F71&prodID=3770) ($24.99), but they don't allow you to create yer own dictionaries. IMHO, TextPlus has the best quality/price ratio (that's why I bought it).

Answer #2) I don't know, this is very weird, I never had problems with alarms... they just pop out when they're supposed to, no matter the application currently running and even if the device is turned off. Maybe it's a problem related to your model (I have a T615C), but I never heard any NX user complaining 'bout this. I'm sorry, I don't really know. :(

Hope this helped! :)

Hello  rosdimahdi and welcome to the clie family!

You already found the best place for clie users to share information...

#1: I aggree to fendris77: Best predicitve textprogramm is textplus. There are problems if you want to use supernames adressprogramm with textplus with your nx70 (see my thread

#2: This is an issue some users have with new palmdevices. Of course *every* alarm should ring, if the clie is turned off or when some other app is executed. This is definetly an error.
If you search the group with "alarm" you will find some solutions. The most common solution is to do a "soft reset". This is pressing the little button in the hole on the back of the clie. Donīt be afraid, no data will be lost. I had this problem in the past and a soft reset solved that.

I am sure you will get this fixed.

Michael

Thanks fenris,
I'll try to get the Textplus program.

On the alarm issue, I would like to correct my question. I think the alarm works on Agendus without a problem, as it uses the built-in datebook functions for alarm monitoring, I guess. But, as for the other programs, like WorldMate or Megaclock, I have to activate the program before I turn off, unless it will not work.

Thanks again.

Excuse me Mikra... The problem you mentioned about TextPlus and SuperNames is related to NX devices only? I use SuperNames too, and I never had problems entering text with TextPlus... Versions are TP 5.1 and SN 2.06. TNX for your attention! :)
