View Full Version : After the CF Driver.....

I've been sitting here reading all these CF posts and I have to admit I'm slightly worried about what'll happen _when_ the CF driver is released. I mean, what is everyone going to post about? I'm thinking the only other subject that may raise the same level of interest is whether the United States and Britain should carry on its middle east rampage by invading Syria, Iran or Saudi Arabia?, or perhaps we could come up with a diplomatic solution to the North Korea crisis? ;)

At the risk of encouraging Ilkera, I'm going to post in this thread. Earlier in the thread someone asked about a GSM driver. I didn't post this response, and normally I would let it go, but the question was directed to EruWare so I didn't want anyone to think this was an official response. We _will_ be working on other types of drivers based on customer requests (if customers of our memory driver want another type of driver and enough of them ask we'll try our best to make it happen). We also plan to work on other types of software.

Ilkera:
Here's a risk you didn't consider : What if _I_ die tomorrow?

Sorry I couldn't help myself, your comment was so funny I fell out of my chair laughing. At any rate I think you'll be pleased with our planned launch date (well maybe not if you die tomorrow).

Thanks,
Amir

...and with humour like this, I'm putting forward that Ayasin is not allowed to leave this board once his work on the driver is done. I'd pay him $25 a year just to post posts like this. I fell off my chair laughing.....

I guess after the driver new Clie models will be released WITHOUT CF slots on them and we won't have to worry about any CF driver.

Don't worry, there will be new things to argue ever and forever...

Life must be good... I wish the CF Driver was all I had to worry about.

My best guess is that Sony will build the Clies with CF slot only for a limited period of time. In forseeable future there will be processors with build in wireless access - like the centrino. Then everyone will have to buy the overpriced MS again.

The NX and NZ are pretty stable Clie's. If Sony decides to remove the CF slot in the future Clie's, then the price of the NX and NZ will drop down. At a lower price, these Clie's will be a bargain! (In fact, I'm planning to get another NX if this is going to be the case). :D

Btw, the new CUD (http://www.8tec.com/pro-compactuDisk.htm) from Atech is also an exciting prospect for CF-enabled devices.

Forgive my ignorance, Fireball, but what exactly is the CUD? Is it just a converter of some sort?

Like I said at Brighthand: CUD is what cows chew.

It's the new mini-CF that was just announced.

And 2nd, what would CUD be utilized for? I looked at the link, but I don't 'get it'.

LOL!

So what advantage does a mini CF offer? Less power drain? Less heat? Faster?

It's seem like smaller than SD card huh? I think if it's real, it still need at least a few year to be common use memory card for worldwide.

Speedwise may not consider fast(parallel transfer rate:32mbits/sec) in few years later.

After the CF driver is developed, we will prove the PDA world that ClieSource the power to create new technology and affect the way we use high tech. We don't just post and post for nothing. I think ClieSource will become more popular and we will have more members/clie users.

I hope the new Clie that comes out has a CF adapter or I will have to say that the NX70 is the best Clie ever, even better the best PDA better.

I am thrilled and appreciate all the work that the developer and beta testers are doing on our behalf. I will be among the first to send my money for the driver.

As far as after the CF Memory driver...development of a driver for a CDMA PCS Connection CF Card would be GREAT. I have one for my laptop and would be happy to be a beta tester. True "wireless" conectivity almost anywhere with our Clie's.

Again, THANKS for everyone's efforts.
