Read about the changes here (http://www.resco.net/palm/backup/history.asp).
I've tried all the major backup utilities and this one is king! ;)

Yup, this and NVBackup are right there at the top.

Yeah, if you already have another backup app and it is meeting your needs, I would not suggest spending more money for the sake of change. I switched from BackupMan to Resco Backup because I always had to manually re-enable ClieSkinner after a restore with BackupMan, whereas after a Resco Backup restore, my PDA is ready for use in perfectly restored configuration.
just to say that this version contains additional functionality for NVFS devices such as the ability to flush dbcache etc....

I switched from BackupMan to Resco Backup too. BackupMan kept resetting my 700P after completing the backup process. Resco just works great everytime.
I'd really like Resco to add the feature NVBackup has where you can export a backup set to a server with FTP. (I did e-mail Resco with this request).

I posted this request on the Resco site, but there's probably more traffic here in case this can already be done. And if it can't and you think it's a good idea, why not post support for it on the Resco site for the next release.
My understanding is that the Scheduler options are global, in other words, they apply to all scheduled backups. However in some cases I want to have my Palm turn off after the backup, and in other cases I don't. For example, I like to do a daily backup at 4 AM every day. For these, I'd like the Palm to turn off after the backup. But if I set a scheduled backup after every HotSync, I don't want my Palm turning off.
Can this be done? Am I missing something?
Thanks
Bob

I'd just like Resco to have something other than the pretty pathetic "zip encryption." Something more robust (eg. 128bit AES) would be nice. I asked once about it, but they said they'd have to work on Explorer's encyption routine before the backup app's could be changed. Not that it's out of the question, but not something that's coming soon, either. Bummer.

I installed the new version and notice they've added some of Alex's features. Now there is a choice to reset after backup, flush after backup, prevent dbcache fragmentation, and disable notifications. I hope Jan adds more of Alex's modifications. :)

I think he's added all that's worth adding without changing over the whole backup engine. Except maybe ftp. But I actually advised Jan against it, on the grounds that the number of users interested in that seems to be small. (Plus the support load on anything network-oriented is, I suspect, monstrous. So it's easy to do in an unsupported freeware app, but not in a supported one.)
Of course, if they want to add ftp support, they can just take NVBackup's. :-)

I have BackupBuddy installed and I am so tempted to install Resco Backup. Everyone has been raving about it.
I do use Resco Explorer (and like it) and do manual backups with that.

Where did you find those options? I cannot seem to find them. In the about dialog box it does say I'm running the correct version.

I received a reply from Jan on the Resco Forum:
yes, the Scheduler options are global. But the option 'Turn off after scheduled backup' is meant only for time-based backups. You mentioned the reason already.

I use NVBackup as my primary backup app and now I feel more secure since Resco Backup has been updated. RB nows runs much more smoothly than it did before.
