Help, people!!!
I Can't play MP3 on my N7604c! I have been using it for more htan a year now. But still can't listen to the MP3 format on my Clie. I can only listen to the Attact format.
I know how and where to put the mp3 files (under Palm/MsAudio in the Memory Stick). I tried use the "Ms import drop-in method" and "Realone player import method", both I can readily see the mp3 file is clearly installed and locate at that correct folder, but my Audio Player keep on saying "No Music Track". I also tried use different bit rates (96 and 128) and on different types of MS (Magic gate and normal MS)...all failed to work. I wonder if there is a problem with my Audio Player.
Can you help me, please..Thanks
PS: Will a hard reset help?

What version of Audio Player are you using? I think you need at least v2.0 to play mp3s. If its v1.1 or less, it'll only play Atrac3 stuff. You'll need to install v2.0 which should be on the installation CD. Read your Manual next time :)
And no, a hard rest will probably won't work.

Thanks for the reply.
My is V2.1. I pretty sure it support the MP3 function because my manual say so.
Help wanted!!!
The right MP3 folder is:
/Palm/Programs/MSAudio
NOT
/Palm/MSAudio
Just in case you do put in the right directory, I have that same problem when I try to convert CD music to MP3 at BitRate other than 96 kbps. The N760C with AudioPlayer 2.1 seems only accept 96 kbps. Just for grin, you might try converting CD music to MP3 using RealJukeBox that is provided in Installation CD-ROM. Here are the settings that work for me:
1. Click on Tools, Preferences, Audio Quality
2. Select MP3 Audio format and 96 kbps BitRate.
Once you have one or two MP3s made with that format, install them with AudioPlayer Transfer route instead of MSImport by:
1. Put Clie on the cradle
2. Launch AudioPlayer
3. Tap Menu, Options, Transfer
4. Drag and drop the MP3s to /Palm/Programs/MSAudio
Let us know how you do.
Good luck
PS: I never use MagicGate (white) MS. I rather have 2 regular purple MSs for the price of 1 white one.

"Palm/Programs/MSAudio" is the correct directory.
And the guy above is WRONG about the bit rate. The 760 will play up to 256K, and even VBR (Variable Bit Rate). But the sampling rate MUST be 44.1KHz, and very low bit rates can cause problems as well.
And you don't need Magic Gate for MP3 (although you can use them if you already have one)

GeekGod, I did not say that you cannot use higher than 96 bitrate. Unfortunately the RealJukebox 2, that comes with the Clie, only gives Bitrate option of 96, 64, and 56. I tried 64 and 56 and they don't work. It is good to know that the Clie can actually play at higher Bitrate, but why waste memory if 96 sounds good enough. I can put almost 3 hour worth of music in 128MB at that bitrate.

I finally figure out the problem. Since I also listen the Asian Musics, I finally realize the "File Name" can't include "Even one single word in language other than ENGLISH". I change the Mp3 file name to English Only (Note: song title is different from file name), everything works fine now!!
BTW, its also ture for other type of files..e.g.movie, bmp...
All must have file name of English.
Thanks for the help and suggestions guys! ^^

Actually, you did. In your previous post you said, "The N760C with AudioPlayer 2.1 seems only accept 96 kbps."

Thanks for the clarification. I never use that "Real" stuff. I think all "Real" software is crap.
And as for 96K sounding "good enough" that's really a matter of personal taste. I happen to like higher bit rates. It's true that I can't fit as much music, but using VBR helps (sucks that the NX/NZ series can't do VBR - wonder why Sony screwed that up).

You're right. My bad. I forgot to add the words 'MP3s from crappy RealJukebox 2' at the end of "The N760C with AudioPlayer 2.1 seems only accept 96 kbps." I must have been trying to wake up that morning. Anything else I goof? Thanks for presistently correcting my statements. I'm glad someone policing the posts like a hawk.
Eventhough "Real" software is crap, as you said, this one work fine for me and it's included in the Installation CD-ROM so at least I don't cough up more $ than what I already have.
The bright side is supramessiah solved his problem on his own. Thanks for sharing your solution, guy! Good work!
Keep up posting great into and keep the CS site alive and kicking!
