I know this at least works for the IIIx because I tried it, u just have to backup and then go into debug mode before you start the flash program or when it is started go to advanced on the first screen and then select the ROM you just downloaded by selecting browse.

Due to the Zire 31 reports of BAD units I had mine go out to (first time Not my fault)... :( so I had to do without for a bit, and now my father brought in another IIIx, it had 3.0 or so and I flashed 3.3 from www.palm.com and I tried to find the 4.1 download on the net and couldn't find it, however upon searching IIIx stuff (not directly searching for the download) I found this on another forum, discussing the IIIx unit. :).

You must have a yahoo ID (or email actually) (free) to access it because it is on a Yahoo groups site. :)

Also if you go to menu on the home screen after upgrading to this OS and then about applications it will show 4.0, however if you go to info and version it will show 4.1.

This Flash says Vx however it will work with the IIIx at least and a person on the forum said it worked on their IIIxe.

Also if you notice the ROM update and flash is much smaller than the Palm download, so I believe palm.com made it impossible or so to use the downloaded one from their site, and yes this includes both clock and notepad, however it doesn't include mobile connectivity software of course. :)

Now enough Babbling and the site is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/palmblvd/ and go to files once you joined (no waiting) and to also enter debug mode press Down and reset your palm device by holding the pin or whatever into the reset hole with the Down Button at the same time until you see a garbled or looks like messed up screen with a small blinking Box in one of the Top corners, no biggie as this is normal and don't forget before you start this to have over 70 percent or so of battery and don't use the Cheap batteries for this use Duracell at least or a new pair of cheap batteries if insisting to use like eveready ones.

Remember the screen look in debug mode and when installing is NORMAL so don't panic.
