In honor of the soon to be realeased CF driver I have created a device to enhance the movie viewing experience that I expect many will use the CF cards for.
http://www.inertia-llc.com/sandbox/temp/clie-easel/source/dsc05779.html
Do you struggle with how to view your clie in landscape mode whe its sitting on a table. Maybe you do what I have been doing which is to have the clam shell half open and then twist the screen a little to tilt it up. But that does not look nice and it kind of falls over to the side so you have to tilt your head a little.
Well those days are over now that I have the Clie Business Card Easel. Developed after minutes and miutes of extensive research and development. (and yes it really does work)
I hope you enjoy it, dfg
oddly enough I just realized that it makes a nice business card holder, kind of green environmental solution.

David,
Excellent!! When I started reading your post I suspected the link would be a joke of some kind. But I tip my hat to your creativity (and origami skills :) )!
Some instructions might be helpful. Though I was able to make a functional model on my first try, it was a bit sloppy. I made a second version with sharp creases exactly where I wanted them to be, once I realized that the front tail flap needed to be "sandwiched" between keyboard an screen sections (Du-oh!).
Thanks for an elagantly simple solution.

I have updated the site with photos as I fold one and some instructions. I'm glad everyone likes this. You can tell I really did not feel like working this afternoon.
You can go to the link above and just look beyond what was the last photo or click here to go to the start of the instructions.

I made one improvement, it appears that I don't have to have a fold through the two back sides of the pyramid. This now adds some strength.
Maybe I should quit my day job and start folding napkins at a restaurant.
Here is another day I was bored and learned how to map a panoramic to a paper balloon. I had gallery show of a bunch of photos and just happened to have a few of these sitting on a table, andy they stole the show from my other photos. (the balloon was not my design, its just typical balloon, it was the mapping of a photo to it that was my creation)

Tomorrow's lesson, how to use your WIFI card as screen protector applicator :-)

David,
that's a great one! :) I wanted to ask you for your business card, so that I can have a Clie Business Card Easel myself. But to my surprise I found out that I can do it with my onw business card too. ;)
While the device is 100% "downward" compatibel with the NR70, I am not sure wether the NZ90 is supported as well. Has anyone tried it out yet??? :D

Aehh... just to be clear about this: Anyone who tries this with her/his NZ90 does it on his/her own risk!!! :p

David,
Do you have something for propping up the Clie's owner too?

Funny Idea!
But Surprise! When looking at your clie i realized that yours has a black plastic border.
Mine has a white one. I think both are NX70V. Are there "different" NX70s. This is your picture:

This is what my NX looks like

Michael, mine is an NX60, so that may be the difference, or maybe they just switched the production line at some point. (just checked Sony site, it does look like varies from NX60 to 70)
By thew ay How did you directly post a photo on the forum. I tried but did not have any luck. In some other forums if I provide a link directly to a jpg file vs. an html page then it shows the linked photo.
Larry, sorry no stand for the Clie owners unless you make use of a wall. Wait, let me re-think that. If you have a tree or somewhere to hang it from you can buy this, it comes with its own bag and sholder strap.

It's easy :) No, it really is, see vB codes explained (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/misc.php?s=&action=bbcode)

While bored at a meeting the otherday, I was looking at the border on mine and realised just how thick it is - its not a 1mm plastic film, but has some actual substance to it.
Got me to thinking ... plexi and suface mount LEDs. Hooked back to the power LED. Nice bling bling for alarms and alerts :)
Anyone done that before? I'd lay bets that the japanese modders have probably done that and then some.

Good and simple solution to a problem. I wonder if the people at sony are taking a look at your design now... and thinking "Hmmm... Why didn't i think about that."

Are you putting the tab at the front sandwiched between the two faces of the clam shell? If not then that is the probelm, if you are then maybe the tab needs to be a little longer.
If for some reason you have really thin business cards then a index card cut to size should work, that is about strength of my cards.

Off topic of above. I went through 5-10 tries of failed easels in coming up with this one. May of my failed ones were less stable and were much bigger in size. This one is so small that rather than folding and unfolding i could jut put into my bag with me on the go. Along those lines I have in my head a deluxe version made of mylar (a kind of plastic based paper), I may find that it won't want to fold well.
I don't think this has reached legand status but I'm excited to see that it made it to a second page.

NEW! - Clie Deluxe Easel is finished
http://www.inertia-llc.com/sandbox/temp/clie-easel/deluxe/image/clie-easel-flat.gif
This is made with a 3x2 inch piece of drafting mylar and requires 5 folds, one cut and one glued surface. It now folds perfectly flat for easy storage when not in use!
Main page here and at top of post has more details.

I think this is the end of my development on this unless Sony wants to make it into new travel cradle :-) Would need to be just a tad larger to support portrait mode.
