I think it would be cool to have a thin brushed aluminum casing around the back of the SJ33, and then a metal flip cover that is just over sized so it fits around the metal case and can clip shut. With a metal flip cover I'd imagine the hinge would have to slide open to put it on and take it off so you didn't ruin the plastic clips on the unit itself.

So does anybody know if the 3rd party covers are available here in North America? My wife keeps calling my SJ33 with black flip cover a "make-up case", so I gotta find an alternative or I am gonna return it.

you can get the sony alternate color covers for your 'make-up case'...amazon has them for ten bucks each.

Those are exactly the same high-glitz covers as the Sony site is selling.
