And yes, I found the thread saying to push the WIFI chip. It doesn't work. I did get it to start cancelling at one point, but then, it froze during the cancellation. :( Any fixes?

Tried a hard reset?

Yeah. That and I disconnected the battery.

Are you sure that you are not just being impatient? I find my UX takes ages to connect to my home WiFi sometimes...

where does it stop?

initializing or scanning?

Um, when the scanning initializes. Or when the connection initializes. I accidently made the backlight go away. Then I took out the battery and all it good. Still no fix after tinkering a bit.

Romeol, try unpluging your wireless router from power outlet and pluging it back in. Let it reboot and then try connecting. This works everytime for me. Based on my experience, the other item which causes your problem you describe, is my DSL modem. Sometimes powering it off and on and letting it reboot, does the trick.
Hopefully this will work for you.
Good luck.

Huh? This has nothing to do with my internet connection. The PDA freezes anywhere.

Yeah, the PDA still freezes during a scan, but I can cancel the connect now. Except that it keeps freezing while it's "cancelling." Also, my other UX50 I just got has another wifi problem wherein it keeps "retrying" to connect and then stays in that loop and then says it can't connect. I can connect using my E2, TX, and PSP so the connection is not the problem. Argh! UX50 would be so great if I got the internet to work. . .

How many WiFi networks do you have configured on the device? If you select a specific connection in the list, your UX will only attempt to connect to that network, thus negating the scan process for other networks....

Could I also suggest that you refer to this thread (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45466) which has a whole load of detailed troubleshooting suggestions?

Sifted through it and nothing. Hard reset and nothing. I don't even think it's hardware, but what could I fix with software? . . . sigh. . .

Wow. . . internet does work with my UX50. For 1 hour at least. Update: I got my 2nd UX50 to surf at the library for 1 hour. Then, it did the whole retrying thing again. :( Maybe it's a network problem?

Yes! Solution found! Changed channel to 5 instead of using 6. :)

That finding could have saved you a fortune ;)

Yup! If only the other UX50 were so cooperative. :(
